Betty Kay Charters has been operating for over 30 years, and Capt. Bill Whitmer and Margery have owned and operated the business for 20 years now. Capt Bill brings over 35 years of west coast ocean fishing experience and Captain Kathi has 20 years of experience with Betty Kay Charters.
They are eager to see you not only have great time on the ocean but also have a great experience touring the upper Coos River. The crew is very helpful and wants you to have a great time also!

Activity Description
Join Betty Kay Charters for a nature cruise to see the beautiful Oregon Coast and abundant wildlife!
This cruise features:
- Birds: You will see near-shore sea birds like pelicans, surf scooters, cormorants, loons, and greibes.
- Mammals: You will often see harbor seals, California sea lions, and possibly whales.
- Cape Arago Lighthouse: Built sturdy and stout, the Cape Arago Lighthouse and directed mariners to safety since the late 1800's. Large colonies of sea birds live on the outer reef on which Cape Arago Lighthouse is built.
- Simpson's Reef: This reef displays the powerful might of the Pacific ocean waves crashing onto it's rocky prominences.
- Maritime Activity: You will often see fishing boats, pilot boats assisting big ships into port, and tug and barges moving product to and from port.
Feel free to move about the boat throughout the cruise. The Captain and Crew will provide narration and answer any questions you may have along your journey. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
What Is Not Included?
- Cameras/Binoculars: Please bring if you wish.
- Complimentary coffee and water will be available, but feel free to bring your own beverages (alcohol must be limited to 3 beers per person).
- Snacks: Bring a snack if you wish.
- Rain gear is not provided.
