Chelsea Market/Meatpacking Dist Food Tasting Tour

This was an enjoyable way to spend my Saturday! The guide, Darrell, was hilarious and very knowledgeable on the area and its history. The tastings were great and very filling. This is my second such tour and I intend to go on all five that "Foods of New York" offers.

We LOVED this tour! Our guide Curt was so funny and informative. We got to eat lots of delicious food, while Curt gave us lots of juicy tidbits about the history of the area and the farmers. I would go again tomorrow!!

We loved our tour. The food was yummy and the historical facts were very interesting. I wouldn' t have known the Chelsea Market was so interesting without a guide. The Lobster Place was my favorite. So many wonderful soups.

This was a great way to enjoy my day in NYC. The guide was very informative and entertaining. I highly recommend this tour. All the tastings were terrific.

Great guide-one of the best ever!

We thoroughly enjoyed the food tastings and all the information we received from our guide about the Chelsea Market neighbourhood. We certainly did not expect to be so full and informed at the end of the 3 hours. It made me want to go back to Chelsea and spend more time "prowling" through this historic district of New York!

My sisters and I wanted something different on this trip to NYC and this really delivered. Would recommend to anyone looking for an in depth view of Chelsea.

We met our guide, Bob, inside the Chelsea Market & took us past/into a variety of businesses. We had a little sample at each one on his list & I wondered if this would really fill us. However, by the end, I felt like I had enough to consider it a lunch plus more. Bob was very entertaining telling us about each business & the history of the Chelsea Market & the meatpacking district. His personality was what really made the tour. I expected a lot more walking & for me that was a little disappointing since I love to walk. I thought we'd cover much more of the neighborhood. My mistake on that assumption since I wasn't aware the Chelsea Market is not an area but a building. That factor would be a plus if you are going in the cold weather or if it is not a nice day. The second part of the tour did involve more walking out on the street, with Bob giving information about various buildings, tenants, and history. He was a wealth of information, interesting, and witty. At our last stop we visited a restaurant that had a table set for us in the back. We each had a small plate of very good pasta with meat sauce. It also provided us with a little time to talk to others on the tour in a relaxed atmosphere. All in all it was an enjoyable day out. Our tour started at 10:00 a.m., which is early for a food tour. Later times were not available. I was concerned I would not feel like sampling foods at such an early hour but we started with a mini cupcake, then a little milk, and from there it appeared no one, including me, had trouble sampling anything else. I certainly would consider trying another one of this company's tours.

The variety of food inside the market was great - lots of different experiences. Almost all of the tour is indoors, so if someone wants to experience, NYC outside, the Greenwich Village Tour might be a better choice. Our guide was funny, friendly, and very entertaining.
