Rewarding and Entertaining

Our first food tour ever was a success! Our tour guide was witty, informative and enthusiastic about the tour! The sampling of food was more than adequate and our group liked the variety of samplings. Our guide, Daryl, kept the tour moving smoothly, even having to guide us around a wedding that took place in front of us! Chelsea Market is a gem that we only discovered through the tour guide. Not only will we visit the market again but we will be taking another food tour on our next visit to New York City!

Chelsea Market is a great place to visit. There are so many shops that are chock-full of wonderful food & products. Last year my daughter & I explored this market on our own. This year, we came (with two of her teenage friends) and had the tour. Our guide, Darrell, was beyond fabulous. He was funny, energetic, loud enough to be heard, informative, and gracious. We sampled products from sweet stuff (cupcake, chocolate milk, caramels) to savory (a quiche-like pie, grilled cheese, deli meats) and other odds and ends in between. We left stuffed! We had so much fun and highly recommend you take this tour.

Our tour guide, Darryl, was AWESOME and made it so much fun! He remembered - and used- all 16 of our names in the group! Our food was tasty and things i never would have tried if not on the tour. He gave you 5 minute breaks after a tasting to go walk the store and / or purchase items of what we just had. Everyone liked that! He gave pertinent facts and pointed out things that only a knowledgable tour guide could! Overall, YES....DO IT! You won't be sorry! We did the Village Tour last time we were in town and loved it too! Thank you for making this a memorable and fun experience!

The Market was fun and we learned a lot from Curt. The food on this tour was not as good as the Greenich Village Tour. I would definitely recommend visiting the Market!

Was not quite sure what this was going to be because of the "meat packing district" in the title. Boy was I pleasantly surprised!! Derrell our guide was very informative in a very "creative" way and made the listening to the "history" part not only exciting but I wanted to keep learning MORE! Having said that the BEST part of course of the "sampling" of the different foods and restaurants, and the final resting place enjoying a glass of Champagne and dark chocolate cake was a perfect ending to an amazing, informative and FUN tour!

Chelsea Market was pretty crowded on a Saturday afternoon, but Curt guided us through with ease and professionalism. Loved the cheeses and pasta samples. Little dissappointed we missed the Iron Chef portion but enjoyed everything else.

Curt our tour guide was the best! Hilarious and entertaining, he gave us so much background and history on the area along with cooking tips when we popped into the local grocers. We had the greatest time and the three hours flew by. We had plenty to eat and it was an extremely enjoyable afternoon that I would recommend to anyone.

Interesting overview of the Chelse Market

Every year, my friend and I spend a day in NYC to celebrate our birthdays. A couple of years ago, we took the tour of Greenwich Village with Food Tours and had a great experience. This year, it was time for the Chelsea Market. The guide was fantastic. He was entertaining, personable and knowledgeable and he remembered everyone's name. The Chelsea Market was interesting with so many diverse stores and eating places. It was also crowded and a challenge to navigate as a group. I am not sure that it is a conducive place for a tour. The foods were interesting but sparse in comparison to the Greenwich Village tour. We met interesting people from all over the U.S., Canada and PR; just that aspect makes the tour worthwhile. A recipe for a Bolognese sauce from a restaurant we visited was printed on the back cover of the tour program. I made the sauce and it was delicious. We also visited the Meat Packing District and the highline. Both interesting and worth a visit on your own. All in all - I would recommend the tour.
