Chelsea Market was pretty crowded on a Saturday afternoon, but Curt guided us through with ease and professionalism. Loved the cheeses and pasta samples. Little dissappointed we missed the Iron Chef portion but enjoyed everything else.

Curt our tour guide was the best! Hilarious and entertaining, he gave us so much background and history on the area along with cooking tips when we popped into the local grocers. We had the greatest time and the three hours flew by. We had plenty to eat and it was an extremely enjoyable afternoon that I would recommend to anyone.

Interesting overview of the Chelse Market

Every year, my friend and I spend a day in NYC to celebrate our birthdays. A couple of years ago, we took the tour of Greenwich Village with Food Tours and had a great experience. This year, it was time for the Chelsea Market. The guide was fantastic. He was entertaining, personable and knowledgeable and he remembered everyone's name. The Chelsea Market was interesting with so many diverse stores and eating places. It was also crowded and a challenge to navigate as a group. I am not sure that it is a conducive place for a tour. The foods were interesting but sparse in comparison to the Greenwich Village tour. We met interesting people from all over the U.S., Canada and PR; just that aspect makes the tour worthwhile. A recipe for a Bolognese sauce from a restaurant we visited was printed on the back cover of the tour program. I made the sauce and it was delicious. We also visited the Meat Packing District and the highline. Both interesting and worth a visit on your own. All in all - I would recommend the tour.

Cindy, our Tour guide, was very knowledgeable, funny, & gave us the history and little known facts about the shops we visited, the area we were in, and the restaurants we sampled. A wide variety of foods and experiences, and most of all - fun! The 3 hours went by effortlessly even though it was 90 plus degrees outside. We were all provided a cold water bottle, and plenty of food samples to keep us going. I'd say half the tour was inside, and half outside.

We love to visit Chelsea Market so it was really fun to learn more about the history of the building and neighborhood. Darryl got to know each of us personally. He is a warm, friendly guy who is a lot of fun to spend a day with! Oh and the food was delicious!

We had a great time on our Tour with Cindy, who was informative and brought a nice balance of fun & humour to the tour. We had no idea of the history of the Chelsea Market & surrounding area, so we gained a lot from the experience. We enjoyed the tastings and went back & purchased items from several of the stores after the Tour and the next day when we returned.

So much Fun and Great NY Flavor

This is just such a great tour of one of NY's best district -- the Meat Packing District . The tour has great NY history, Chelsea Market is so much fun for shopping, etc. and to see what Cohen did with this historical Nabisco plant is just fantastic. You get a great mix of indoor/outdoor and our tour guide, Cindy was just fabulous -- filled with a great sense of humor, tons of NY personality and very, very knowledgable. The food portion of the tour of equal if not better value -- from vinegar and salt tastings to biscuits and jams, hams, cheeses, and even full bolognese plate! You won't be disappointed... take the tour. We're native NYers and we loved it, including my two teenage kids!

Our tour guide, Kurt, made the tour! He is funny and knowledgeable. The food on this tour was very good. Compared to other tours, like the Village, this one was more about the food and less cultural, but really fun.
