This Chelsea Market tour was phenomenal in structure & content. The generous food-tasting was the icing on the cake. I'd recommend this tour to locals and tourists alike....time well spent indeed!

Required tip

Where I come from, tips are voluntary. I think the guide was a bit tacky in his opening speech when he said that "tips in NY are commonplace, and 20% is appreciated". Are you guides not able to wait until the tour is finished? Tips are supposed to be based on how the guide performed his work, and to be told at the start of the tour about tipping is really not politically correct.

Firstly, come hungry! A lovely variety of delicious food from a range of vendors in Chelsea Market. Curt was our guide and so full of information and fascinating insights into everything...a great character. The three hours flew by and we walked and talked non-stop. I have been on similar tours in Chicago too and they are all a great way to see an area and learn about its history while trying some very good food. Recommend highly

Funny, entertaining, informative and well organized! Not just for foodies. We learned about the history of the area with funny anecdotes and great tips for further exploration of New York. One of the highlights of our week in New York. Generous food sampling... don't eat before the tour and you won't need lunch!

The tour was very informative and we learnt a lot about the history of New York and the markets that we never knew before. The food tastings varied greatly and were made more special by hearing about the history behind each store. Our guide was enthusiastic and knew his market well. I would definitely do another tour if I return to NY.
