Informative, but not for true foodies

We enjoyed the tour and the guide was informative about the area and the stores and restaurants. However, there was not as much food content and information, particularly in terms of behind the scenes and exclusive access to chefs and restaurants, as we had expected. In many instances we could probably have sampled much of the food on our own simply by wandering through Chelsea Markets. So, as a guided tour on Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, yes the tour ticked all the boxes. If you are a true foodie looking for insights on food and dining in New York this is probably not the tour to take.

A little too hectic!

Doing the tour at Chelsea Market on a Sunday was a little too hectic for me. It was interesting to learn the history of the market but with so many people its hard to get around. Our tour guide was great, enthusiastic and kept us engaged. The tastings were mostly sweets and not much time between each. The last tasting was in a restaurant and we were seated at a long table in front of the chefs/grill--it was extremely warm and smoky from the grill. While the pasta was tasty, the environment wasn't. Couldn't wait to get some air. I recommend the Old Greenwich Village Tour instead--loved that one--walking outside and food was very good.

We are still talking about the fun we had and how much we learned about a part of town that is so in the news. Our 20-something children loved it!
