Rating: 5 Great tour, tortuous booking

This wasn't our first FoodTours walk, and this one, like the one we did in Greenwich Village two years ago didn't disappoint, with plenty of interesting dialogue and some really nice stores. The problem I see is Zerve. When trying to book online it wanted me to remember sign-in data from my last transaction with them two years ago! When I couldn't do so it would not let me proceed since I was using the same email address as before. Even after two transatlantic telephone calls we ended up having to use my wife's email address to reserve. Clearly Zerve are quite happy to let their desire to build a database of hacked off users(in this case at least) interfere with the generation of business for their clients . If I were FoodTours I'd get out of Zerve as fast as my legs could carry me- they might be costing them a fortune. If I were Zerve I'd change my system so it first and foremost made it easy for willing customers to complete a transcation and forget about linking one transaction to another unless they can learn to do it elegantly. The user names , passwords, and security data I give a booking agency are not very important to me, and if Zerve think I should keep records of this stuff in case I want to use them again, they must be delusional. Its a one off transaction, not the start of a beautiful relationship. But the tour was great- and did I mention that Zerve are a pain.

Wow! worth the trip from Kansas! The market is cozy and full of wonderful products. The Best part was our Tour Guide!!! He was Amazing!!!! Fun, knowledgable, and made a group of strangers feel comfortable and welcome!! He made the market a magical place that you loved spending time in. He also shared knowledge in regards to the city, history, and people of New York that made us feel like we understood this complex city. We will recommend the market, the tour and New York to friends and family due to our experience there. Tawnya Larson McPherson KS

I expected more food on a foods tour, but we got a cookie, soup, bread with cheese, and sampling of gelato the store was already handing out to the public. Then we were taken on a walking tour of the Meatpacking district and didn't necessarily get an inside look or special access that we wouldn't have gotten on our own. Our tour guide was very nice and funny, but the elements of the tour itself were not so impressive.

The day was very cold and windy but we enjoyed every second of the tour thanks to the informative guide, Daryll. I strongly recommend you visit this area on a tour so you can really understand what you are seeing......lots of interesting history!

Perfect tour for a stormy New York afternoon. Sam made the tour both entertaining and informative. He was quick enough to make it possible for us to see all vendors without feeling rushed. His knowledge of the building's history as well as the products being offered by the current tenants was impressive. All the vendors made us want to come back when we had more time to shop at a leisurely pace. I would recommend the tour and Sam to others without any reservation. In addition, my wife and I are investigating the Greenwich Village tour for a subsequent visit to NY with friends.

I am german but live in NJ and had a couple of friends from Germany with me. We all enjoyed the tour a lot and had a great time. It was very informative and interesting. The food tastings were great, a little bit of everything. It was so great to see these top rated restaurants from the inside, these were places you normally would only read in magazines about. All thumbs up, great tour, great tour guide, already recommended it to so many people.

We gave this as a gift to my family at Christmas time. We had 6 adults and 3 teens. Our tour guide was Kurt. We are all into food, love to cook and love to be together. I knew the tour would be fun, but the whole experience just blew me away. Kurt was an exceptional guide, very knowledgeable about food and the history of the market and surrounding areas. He gave us valuable "insider" tips to some of the restaurants and clubs in the area. He also acknowledged the shellfish allergy my nephew has which I had informed foodsofny when I made the reservation. When we arrived at the Lobster Box Kurt gave my nephew an olive rosemary bread as he could not participate in the tasting at this spot. There was certainly enough food and all of it was delicious. We had a very rainy windy day and it was perfect because 2/3rds of the tour was inside. It was my niece’s birthday weekend and this was the icing on the cake. We can't wait to do the other two tours. Thanks for a great day.
