Our tour guide was very knowledgable about NY and the history. We loved the Meat-packing district, and ended up going back there for lunch a couple of times. The local, young businesses were accommodating for our group and the tastes of their wares was impressive and brought us back for more. After the tour we went back to buy gifts and souvenirs for friends and family. We visited Chelsea Market twice more after our tour. We would highly recommend it to anyone -- locals or visitors in the area. The tour group was small (16) and it was fun to share notes with them about what to see, etc. |

This is our second Foods Tour in New York and by far the best! Our guide, Ed Carabella was informative, entertaining and catered to the groups needs. The variety of stops, the sample of foods and the information about the places was fantastic!
Chelsea Market is an artisan boutique market for food and the variety and creativity of the vendors made this a unique experience. The sample sizes were more than adequate and certainly encouraged the participants to want more and go back. Our group stated that this was a great culmination to our New York visit. |

This was a wonderful food tour in two areas of the city I wanted to know more about--Chelsea and the Meatpacking District. I had been on the original Greenwich Village tour and had an idea about what to expect on this tour.
The guide, Ed, was very informative about the history of the Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District, so he had many interesting facts to throw in as we meandered our way through the tour. The taste testing was great and offered a huge variety of foods-- cookies, lobster bisque, olives, gelato, tea...and the list goes on. DO NOT EAT before coming on this tour or you will have to turn down some pretty delicious foods. I thought the tour was not too long--just long enough--and thank goodness much of the tour (at least half) was inside the Chelsea Market, so if the weather is not the best (we had extreme heat--about 98-99 degrees outside) you can still enjoy yourself.
I would recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your New York visit so that you can return to these food establishments and shop. |
