This is my 3rd tour with Foods of NY. All have been excellent and I recommend them to all of my friends and colleagues traveling to NYC. I can't wait for my next NYC visit and will plan to do the Chinatown tour. You won't be disappointed.

Fun introduction to a fascinating area of NYC

Our guide used humor and an amazing knowledge of history, cuisine and culture to introduce us to the Chelsea Market. (Thank you, Kurt.) Who from out of town even knew this place exists? We got up close and personal to a variety of ethnic food shops and sampled their tasty wares. Real New York City people opened up to us. A deli meat guy shared with us what training and expertise he had acquired to get there. We learned about the evolution of this section of NYC from meat packing district to trendy destination. But they have not forgotten their roots. Evidence of the original structures and industry is blended tastefully with the current businesses everywhere. Deference is still shown in the market to mom and pop places that cater to each customer. We tasted rich, hearty soups, creamy chocolates, tender meats, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits, pasta and sauce, etc. The architecture and ambiance of the Iron Chef's Morimoto and Mario Batali's Del Posto are stunning. Seeing the warm kitchen in the row house B&B was a treat. We talked and walked about the district and bonded with our tour group and guide--and requested a group photo. This tour is a delightful way to become acquainted with local food, people, stores, eateries and history. Now I want to go back and savor it again and again.

This was my second time to do the Chelsea Food Market tour, and I aboslutely loved it the second time around! Not only was the food amazing and interesting, our fearless leader Curt made our entire tour worthwhile. He is knowledgable, personable, and hilarious. We're from Toronto and were visiting NYC for a few days in January. Our tour guide was extremely entertaining (he even sang a song for us at the end of the tour) and the food that we sampled was substantial and so delicious! I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about the gentrification of the meatpacking district and eat some good food while doing so.

great outing...outstanding food, more than lunch

we were a group of two mom's with 16 yo daughters in town for the weekend. I had previously taken the greenwich village tour with my husband and another couple and loved it. Really enjoyed this with the girls. They were thoroughly entertained by our guide for the day, who went out of his way to remember everyone's name. he told entertaining stories throughout the tour and seemed very knowledgable about all the places we visited. The food was way more than lunch and not just little nibbles. This tour was great for a cold winter day because the whole chelsea market part was indoors, I would love to do it in better weather to gain a greater appreciation of the new High line Park system, even though covered in snow you could see that it is a real gem in the city and there were may artistic interpretations of snow men and other snow creature. Will have to come back for that. Great bang for your buck especially in NYC

This was an awesome tour! We did this tour in January which was good because it is mostly inside when the weather was bad. Kurt, our tour guide, was awesome and very knowledgeable about the history of the Chelsea market and the surrounding area. The food was also amazing and definitely very filling. I would recommend this to any foodie! It is great to do with a group of friends!
