There were a group of nine of us who decided to do the tour in Chelsea this year. Last year many of the women went to the tour in the Village and loved it. I lived in Chelsea for a few years and thought I'd see a lot of new things I haven't experienced, however, the entire tour was based in the Chelsea Market which is not very clear on the Website. Then when you leave the market you get to see three restaurants - but the two best ones you don't even get to have a tasting at their establishment.
However, my biggest complaint was our tour guide. I thought she was rude and extremely unprofessional. Her comments and remarks could have easily offended someone, however, I married a New York boy so I'm used to it. When I asked a simple question of wanting to know where we would be visiting today - she had a tone and was extremely rude!!!
To be honest, I could have given the tour much better and I would have been so much more polite and 'at ease' than she was. You could barely get her to give us enough time to take a picture - and all we wanted was a relaxing day - not a rushed one....very disappointed.

It was a pleasure touring the new Chelsea area. Tasting high quality foods was an enormous treat. There was plenty to time to give your feet a rest. The tour guide was knowledgeable and curious. This tour was well worth the value. Thank you. |

Curt made the event. He was outstanding. Very personal. Very Knowledegable. Good sense of humor and energetic. You get more food than on the Grenwich tour and it's all good. You learn a lot about the area too. |

My mother and I take a yearly trip to New York and had never been to the meat packing district, what a find we found in Chelsea Market!! The market was GREAT, had such unique shops and foods. Our guide Diana was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the market and the whole meatpacking district. The food was incredible, the shops owners/workers were very friendly. the 3 hours flew by!! Did I tell you how great the food was? I would highly recommend this tour, do not eat before you arrive, there is plenty of food on the tour!! |

Came across this tour by accident on the internet. Was planning to do a tour of manhatten and heard about the tour that the Food Network did on a very limited basis in 2008 and wanted to visit the Food Network. After google searching, came across this Food Tour of Chelesa Market. Read the description and was curious. Spoke with my friend and we decided to take the tour. Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Market. Description about going on tour on an empty stomach was a good suggestion. Sampling was throughout the 3 hour tour. Very informative and exciting on my part since I am a self proclamed "foodie." Both of us enjoyed stops along the tour that interested us in our own specific taste. I never knew I could get so excitied about a milk bar that served oatmeal. The Corn and Crab Chowder at the Lobster Place was to die for as my friend enjoyed the Lobster Bisque. The tour held no more than 15 people, which was just about right since we went on a crowded Saturday. It is recommended that you wear good walking shoes, since you will be on your feet for about 90% of the time. Had the opportunity to do a wine tasting. Yum. The meat packing district was a informative segment of the tour. I would do this tour again. This tour was taken on 10/14/08; 11:30am. |

Diana was our tour guide, she was excellent! Very informative and fun.
As for the food, it was above and beyond our expectations and much larger quantities than we thought they would be. Needless to say we were very full by the end of the tour, the food was wonderful.
The weather was not that great but most of the time we were indoors so it really didn't affect our tour much at all.
We even lucked out and had a wine tasting at both Delposto and then later at the Wine Vault. (Not normally part of the tour, but we in the right place/right time).
We had such a nice group of people from different states as well as locals.
We enjoyed this tour so much that we are already planning to do a different one in the spring!
Thanks Diana, you were great!

My family and I wanted to do something different that everyone from all ages could participate, so when I read about this I signed us up, being as we love to eat. I have to say the first response from my family was not accepting of what I had expained what we would to be doing, but midway through the tour I was getting hugs and thank yous from everyone. They all enjoyed themselves so much that we plan to do it again in the summer time.
I highly recommend this tour. It was a experience that I will be talking about for a while. |

Our tour was scheduled for Friday, 13 Nov. We are from the Jersey Shore and a Nor'easter hit our area for 48 hours starting on Thurs evening. We had no electricity and therefore, unable to shower or dress to go into the city and take the tour. We wasted $92.00; we understand there are no refunds. My husband and I are very, very disappointed that we could not attend. |

This was a delightful tour. My tour enjoyed learning about the history of the building and this entire area of NYC which we had never visited before on previous visits. The tasting part of the tour was delightful as well. The "famous" bisquits that we tasted at Sarabeth's were the only part of the tour that was disappointing. We're from the South, and we know our bisquits. These were NOT good bisquits. The lobster bisque from The Lobster Place was outstanding, however, and our tour guide, Darrell, was worth the price of the tour. |
