Kurt was our tour guide, and he was lots of fun, and had a wonderful knowledge of the food, the area and the history. The food was delicious and very certainly there was alot of food for the tour to enjoy. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves food, and wants an interesting way to eat, learn about New York and be entertained for three wonderful hours.

Our guide was very knowledgeable, she answered all our questions and we had a lot. She was quick on her feet even though one foot wwas in a walking cast. she took us to terrific places of NY history, places we never knew existed. We loved every part of the tour especially the eating places - a wonderful blend of history and contemporary culture in one afternoon. Before you know it you too will feel like a member of the nieghborhood. This was our second tour with Foods of NY - just terrific. see you on the next one !

I have been on three food tours in NYC. The tours have been informative and well constructed. I would recommend them to anyone who is interested in historical facts, attention to details, want to "eat on the run" and enjoy being on their feet for 3 consecutive hours. The food is plentiful and delicious.

Our tour was very informative and the food was excellent. Our tour guide, Diana, was very knowledgeable and very entertaining. I would recommend this tour to anyone and I would very happily do it again myself. Diana is an outstanding tour gudie who obviously knew alot about the area and New York City.

WOW!

This is the 2nd of your tours my husband and I have participated in. Just when we thought last year's tour couldn't be topped, be met Kurt on the Chelsea Tour. What fun! His "performance" was worth the price of the tickets alone. Kurt was witty, knowledgeable, and personable. He kept us laughing the entire 3 hours, which passed very quickly. Beyond that, the food was amazing and plentiful. It was fun to share our new Chelsea information with our NYC friends. We are still talking about the fun shops we visited. I have already checked their on-line sites and may order from them in the future!

The tour was fantastic. The group leader Kurt made it so much fun and educational. I have had the Greenwich Village tour and was lucky enough to have Kurt for that one too. He is knowledgeable and very funny. The food was delicious.

Excellent way to experience an area of NYC

I had some time to kill and a friend of mine recommended that I do a food tour. Not only did I absolutely enjoy my time on the tour, but it turned out to be a highlight of my trip. Our guide was not only knowledgable, but also very entertaining. The food was delicious! If you are interested in learning about how food inspired a certain area of the city and also getting a taste of the local cuisine, I would highly recommend doing a food tour. What I liked about Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District is that it was mostly inside and then when we were outside, it wasn't that far of a walk. I also loved that Food Network is headquartered here, and we got to see a Food Network star. Overall, I give it a 10!

Great tour guide, great food, amazing day

My girlfriend and I met up with an old friend of mine in the city (she from Atlanta, us from Connecticut) and thought this would be a great way to spend the day. I have done Broadway and the Times Square area many of times, but this was by far my favorite trip into the city. Our tour guide, Curt, was an excellent host for our 3 hours in Chelsea/Meatpacking and provided an outstanding experience and fun time. His memory for the names of the group members and the history of the area was phenomenal, and his meal ideas made me salivate. I am recommending these tours to my friends and family and telling them all to request Curt. Thank you so much for an amazing day!

Both Grandmother and Grandson Happy Customers!

This tour really covered all the bases as far as appeal to a varied age group: I am a 70 year old CA grandmother taking her 18 year old grandson on his first trip to NYC, and we both loved it! Granted, my grandson is considering a career in the food industry, so his interest in good food was perhaps greater than some, but the guide alone was so terrifically entertaining that he outdid the comedy club we went to the night before! Not that we were there just for the jokes; the tour was very interesting both in terms of the area and its history not to mention all that lovely food tasting.

Excellent guide; tour was uncomfortable...
Fri, Jul 10, 09   11:00 AM Hollaris Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
I felt that our guide, Diane was fantastic. She really had an excellent grasp of NYC, the area and of the specific location. Unfortunately, I was under the impression that we would really be tasting more of the food from restaurants in the area, when actually, we tasted from a few of the retailers in the market. The tastes included: a cookie, chocolate milk, soup, jam and at the very last tasting, pasta. Inside, Chelsea Market, the information and tour were nice, but once we left the market, we went on a tour inside a few high-end restaurants where both my date and I felt extremely uncomfortable. We were only allowed to walk through these places and stop and hear about the food, the cost of the food, how difficult it was to get a reservation etc; all the while, diners were eating. Staff at each location, were less than welcoming to see the tour coming...YIKES! It felt awkward at best. My suggestion would be to stick to Chelsea Market and if venturing outside the market be sure t o tour those restaurants that will let you sit and taste their food.
