1. Guide made judgmental remarks that suggested a lame attempt at humor or pandering to a conservative attitude. For example, "Transvestite prostitutes used to work this street. RuPaul lived here, so I guess he didn't have far to walk to go to work." Another example, "The Lower East Side is interesting, but I wouldn't go there at night - a bit dicey." 2. Toward the end of the tour, there was a stop at an empty beerhall, that appeared to be merely a 'paid advertisement' for a place that offered "draft beer and ping-pong!!?" 3. It would have been nice if any of the shop owners acknowledged our group. I broke away, and met Sarabeth and got her to autograph her new book for me. It would have been nice if the guide had facilitated something like this.

We did the Chelsea Market/Meatpacking Dist Food Tasting Tour. I chose this because it was freezing cold and I figured it would be mostly indoors. I was correct. The Chelsea Market is so varied and interesting. Our guide, Kurt, was informative and funny! If I ever took another tour, I would hope to again have him as my guide. The food was delicious and there was a wide variety. We did have 2 Italian tastings, but I knew that in advance. I especially like the non-tasting/history part of the tour. When we arrived home, there was an article in our local newspaper about the High Line! We had just been there! We did go back to the Market and purchase items from 3 of the stores we visited. I would have loved to return to one of the restaurants we visited, but time didn't allow. Next time we visit the city, I'll be sure to eat there and take another tour!

The highlight of our trip to NYC.

A delightful 3 hours with energetic and entertaining guide, Kurt. Very well organized, fast paced, and luckily for us, on a very, very cold day, mostly indoors. Food tastings were wonderful. Looking forward to going to the Village next trip.

Our group had the very best guide, Diana. So very knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and just a person you would be friends with immediately. So much food tasting( don't plan on eating a big meal that night), and great places to return in the future ,if in NYC, again. Our group(4 to 8 ladies) travels to NYC every other year, and will take this tour again, asking for our same guide. We found so many restaurants, and shops to go back and purchase items for gifts. The tour is mostly in doors, so recommended in the cold months. We were there first week of December. This was our third tour with them, and the most enjoyable by all my group. We would have never visited this location if not for taking the tour first. We will now put this in our agent every time we visit NYC.

Great tour...either start away from the marketplace and end there so shopping can take place or leave time for shopping. Can't find the things from chelsea market baskets that we sampled...carmelized peppers being specific...really wanted to order them but can't find them. Tammy Morelen's group (Pam)
