Good for both tourists and locals. Bad weather prevented us from enjoying outside part of tour but the tour guide was inventive and kept us entertained. Food was excellent. |

We come to NYC every year at xmas and check the windows, eat, etc. This was a new experience. We even ventured on the subway from Grand Central. Instructions were great, it was easy to get to. The guide, Sampson, was informative, lively, a lot of fun. Really likes his job and made it an enjoyable event. the tastings were good, some meager, some substantial. I think more explanation on website so you know the types of food and the substance of it. I know it can't be too specific, but some tastings like potato chips are nice, but not what I expected on a "food" tasting.
The restaurants are mentioned, some you get to see as architecture and history, but my expectation was that there would be tasting there as well. Like a mini tappas.
The price was fair for the tour and some of the tastes were very good, but some were "cheap fillers". Enjoyable on the whole and I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to explore a new area of NYC.
I'd be interested in one of the other tours to see if there is actually more food tastings. Thanx for this opportunity. |

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, humorous and energetic. He provided a lot of interesting information about the area and the sellers. We did go back to the market to shop after the tour, so he was a good salesman! |

More information about the vendors (maybe even hear them speak for a moment or two) and less about the guy who built the market. I wanted a tour not a roving biography. We bailed.
That said, the tour guide was bright, well-spoken and quite charming |

We had a great time on the tour. Every shop we entered was nice and we learned a lot about the area. The guide told us that he would bring us back to the starting point but he quickly ended the tour at the top of a hotel. It was kind of strange. Besides that, I had a blast and I will be back for another tour. Thanks. |

The guide was knowlegable and enthusiastic. The tour is a great blend of food tastings (lobster bisque, chocolate milk and cookies, Italian antipasto, bread, fruit spreads, unusual tea, etc.) combined with a historic tour of the Chelsea market and the meatpacking district from the revolutionary days to the present day upscale developments. We also had the opportunity to take a peek into some of the most exclusive eateries in town (Budda Bar, Morimoto. Pastice).
Highly entertaining and delicous. |

We had taken the Greenwich Village tour a few years ago and loved it. I think we were expecting a similar tour - especially since your instructions indicated to dress for the weather. We were in Chelsea Market for 2 1/2 hours of the tour, carrying heavy coats, scarves, gloves, etc. Most of that time we were standing and listening or noshing. Samson was a great tour guide. However, if you're going to be inside that long, it would have been nice to know it in advance and also it would be nice to have a place we could have left our coats. In the Greenwich tour we would walk, stand a little, nosh and walk. I preferred that to very little walking and mostly standing. Having said that, the food was great and the background stories were fun otherwise. |
