| Chelsea Market took on new meaning during this tour due in large part to our guide Diana...The market came to life after Diana disclosed the history of its owner Irwin Cohen, and the amazing vision he had for developing it. The food offered at all the stops we made was fresh, delicious and plentiful, and the shop keepers were not only prepared with our "samples," but seemed pleased to see us all there. Diana was well versed in all questions culinary, and was happy to exchange stories with us as well.
Our walk into the meat packing district was a 'real New York neighborhood story', full of anecdotal reference to ghosts of 14 Street's past, after which we all had a very vivid picture of what the area was like compared to what it is now.
The icing on the cake moment came when we approached Little West 12th street near Pastis, where we all thought the tour would end, but Diana escorted us across the street to a wonderful example of a family owned and operated Italian restaurant where we we served our last sampling of food of the area, penne with oxtail ragu...Yummmmmmm!
We will certainly try another tour and request Diana again soon! We had a great experience. |

| I enjoyed the tour overall, but I preferred the Greenwich Village tour. I thought that there was some interesting facts and information as well as nice food tastings on this tour, but feel that the Village tour had more to offer in terms of food value and neighborhood facts. Good tour to do in inclement weather because most of the time is spent indoors at the Chelsea market. |

| I enjoyed the tour as it was a right combination of food tastings and a history lesson of the meatpacking district. Tour guide was very knowledgeable which was very appreciated. |

| I purchased the tickets for a friend for a Christmas present.
We like to share different things to do ...day trips etc.
My daughter and her husband attended the Food tour last year
and really enjoyed themselves. That was enough to convince me
to go and see for myself. Our tour guide Kurt was very personable
and enthusiastic. The foods we tasted were more than I expected
and also the history behind the Meat packing district was very interesting
Kurt provided for us a very interesting day! I would definitely go back
just to shop in the stores and spend the day sight seeing. |

| I thought that Curt my tour guide provided a lot of interesting information, but the tour seemed less exciting since most of it took place in one building. Although overall I really enjoyed my experience, and I highly suggest others to do it! |

| We totally enjoyed our tour of Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District with our enthusiastic guide, Curt. Curt was funny as well as knowledgeable -- but he "lied" to us at several stops within Chelsea Market, telling us to eat up we had in front of us, because we wouldn't be eating again for a while -- only to present us with a new tasting a few minutes later at the next establishment! We surely weren't going to go hungry. No tastings were done outside the Market, but the tour of the neighborhood and nearby hotels were nice (and the strolling was a good way to work off the food). The "crazy lady" outside of the biker bar presented Curt with a professional challenge, but he led the group away from her without incident. All in all, a fun and tasty 3-hour tour. |

| My husband is a foodie and if you are too, you will love this tour. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because there's a lot of standing and walking. Our tour guide, Samson, was excellent and was full of lots of good trivia information. A must for any tourist. |

| This tour was one of the best tourist experiences I've ever had (and I've had a lot!) What made it so successful was a well-planned scope and a guide who was spot-on. Add the AMAZING and copious food and I'm still shocked the ticket was under $50! What a value!
The tour was just the right length of time, walking distance and depth of information to be enjoyable without feeling overloaded. The guide made a special point to engage the attendees and balanced his obvious passion for food with his well-rounded experience in various aspects of the restaurant business. He never sounded rehearsed, making our group feel as though we were getting a tour customized especially for us. The tour left plenty of time to return to any of the stops along the way to make purchases or see more.
And the food. Nothing I could write would do justice to the array of samplings we were treated to. All I can say is - come hungry!! You won't be dissappointed! |
