Every year, my friend and I spend a day in NYC to celebrate our birthdays. A couple of years ago, we took the tour of Greenwich Village with Food Tours and had a great experience. This year, it was time for the Chelsea Market. The guide was fantastic. He was entertaining, personable and knowledgeable and he remembered everyone's name. The Chelsea Market was interesting with so many diverse stores and eating places. It was also crowded and a challenge to navigate as a group. I am not sure that it is a conducive place for a tour. The foods were interesting but sparse in comparison to the Greenwich Village tour. We met interesting people from all over the U.S., Canada and PR; just that aspect makes the tour worthwhile. A recipe for a Bolognese sauce from a restaurant we visited was printed on the back cover of the tour program. I made the sauce and it was delicious. We also visited the Meat Packing District and the highline. Both interesting and worth a visit on your own. All in all - I would recommend the tour.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Darryl was fantastic and gave some saucy tidbits of information about the Meatpacking District. He was very knowledgeable and engaging. I look forward to taking the Brooklyn tour probably next spring. Can we pleeeeese have Darryl for our guide?

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide, Darryl, was so knowledgeable and entertaining. The food was delicious and we made purchases at Sarabeth's Bakery, Eleni's, and Lucy's Whey. We will definitely be coming back to the Chelsea Market and the meatpacking district for shopping and eating.

So much Fun and Great NY Flavor

This is just such a great tour of one of NY's best district -- the Meat Packing District . The tour has great NY history, Chelsea Market is so much fun for shopping, etc. and to see what Cohen did with this historical Nabisco plant is just fantastic. You get a great mix of indoor/outdoor and our tour guide, Cindy was just fabulous -- filled with a great sense of humor, tons of NY personality and very, very knowledgable. The food portion of the tour of equal if not better value -- from vinegar and salt tastings to biscuits and jams, hams, cheeses, and even full bolognese plate! You won't be disappointed... take the tour. We're native NYers and we loved it, including my two teenage kids!

My husband & I attended this tour group with other lovely & interesting people from all over the world. We, infact, were celebrating our 32nd Wedding Anniversary and decided to take a Food Tasting Tour. Our tour guide was Curt Upton. Curt was amazing. A walking source of knowledge which comes from his many experiences and his love for food. He is also a very wonderful exuberant loving person. Curt is also well known & liked by the many stores we tasted food from. We loved tasting the many different foods. Delicious! and leaving us wanting more. We were glad to experience Chelsea Market and also walk through the Meatpacking District. We learned a few things on this culture tour, even walking on the High Line. We enjoyed ourselves and will be looking to try the other food tours with Food & NY Tours. Great idea!

The tour guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of good information at the same time he was very entertaining. He learned everyone's first name and used them throughout the tour. The food tastings were all great and provided a great overview of the Chelsea Market and neighborhood.

Super first food tour - Curt is awesome!

This was my first food tour and had a fantastic time!! Did the Chelsea Market and Meat Packing District tour. Curt Upton was our fantastic guide - he didn't stop talking for the entire 3 hour tour! He made a point to connect with each of the 15 people on the tour - he knew all of our names, where we were from, asked what we were doing in the city, offered many suggestions for food, activities, etc. He was not only extremely knowledgeable about the food we were tasting (and the establishments we were tasting in) but also about the building and the neighborhood. Extremely informative, very delicious, entertaining. We had 2 gluten intolerant people on the tour and he went well out of his way to ensure that they had equivalent items to taste when needed. Recommend this tour, especially if you can have it with Curt. After the tour you will definitely want to revisit many of the places to make purchases! Really enjoyed our walk on the High Line as well - had always wanted to see it - beautiful.
