Thoroughly enjoyable tour

Our tour was great fun! I cant remember who led the tour, may have been Curt, but he was full of knowledge about the market itself and the providores, and his humour throughout kept us going through the many tastings. Time flew by and before we knew it we were eating at Macelleria. I had in Morimoto for a bathroom stop, pressing all the buttons!!! The highline was definitely worth the visit and it looked like a relaxing place to be especially the day we were there as it was lovely and sunny. Foods of New York Tours was a recommendation and I will certainly recommend them to anyone going to NYC.

Want more on Food, less on history

I thought that the tour was great. The only recommendation that I would make is that more focus could have been directed to the food and restaurants instead of the history of the area. This isn't to say that the tour wasn't enjoyable; my group had a great time and appreciated everything about it. But if we were to take the tour again (a definite consideration) we'd hope for more focus on the food. And maybe some more of it too!

Fantastic NYC tour and tour guide!

This Chelsea market walking tour was the best $49 (ea) we ever spent on something like this...our guide was fantastic...he made it incredibly fun, entertaining and informative for the full 3 hours. 5 minutes from its start, he had everyone in our group knowing each other's names and where we were all from. By the end of it we all felt like new friends.... My mom and I went to together and we both love to cook, so this was a really special thing to do together. It's definitely not for kids unless they are learning to cook - maybe around age 10 and upward and definitely not small children. For adults, it was wonderful and we had a ball! What's better than laughing, (our guide was one of the funniest, brightest guides I've ever seen), tasting amazing foods and making new friends over great food with the best NYC tour guide ever?? Nothing! I can't wait to bring my husband next time and I've highly recommended it to other friends and family for a great NYC thing to do!

I have taken this tour before but loved Kurt's enthusiastic version. He remembered everyone's name and where they were from. Kurt was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting or living in NYC.

I have never written a review before but i thought this tour deserved one. Thoroughly enjoyed the food - local favourites with good portions . A lot of thought has been goven to the design of the tour, Tour guide speckled the tour with fun facts and the hours passed all too soon. Will definitely try another Foods of New York Tour.

Best way to see the Market and environs

You could browse the market on your own, but you wouldn't get the background info, nor the fab tastings, nor the insider view of a restaurant. Being inside Morimoto's when it was closed was a treat - don't miss the amazing rest room. Darryl, our guide, was great. Oh - and seeing the High Line was great. All of this is new since I was a New Yorker a lot of years ago, and a great way to see and learn

Fantastic Tour!

Our tour guide, Darryl + all the free food samples (be sure you come hungry) + the history of the marketplace and the meatpacking district was very interesting. Walking along the High Line was likewise interesting and the views were great. Would definitely recommend this tour for any group.

Fun and informative.

This is our second time doing a Foods of New York tour (we did Greenwich Village previously). Its a great way to start a visit to NYC as the guides give you a lot of information regarding not only the food scene, but are also very well informed on the history and what is currently going on not only in the area you are touring but elsewhere in the city, Plus they are very entertaining and the food is great!
