This is the 2nd Foods of NY tour I have taken and plan to take the rest of the tours offered. It has opened up parts of the city I have not ventured to in the past. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and he was very funny. A great time was had by all!! Thanks for such an enjoyable day.

Our tour guide Kurt was well-informed, humorous and eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with the group. We went to a large variety of places as well as having an interesting tour of the area. It was eye-opening...and tasty!

Fun - But outdoors first

I know it's hard oudoors...the guide almost needs a microphone due to the traffic - but...I think an earlier start (i.e. 10:30) starting with approximately 1 hour outdoors ending up at the Chelsa Market would have worked better. Bythe time we got outside it was hot and people seemed tired.

Terrific Tour

We took the Greenwich Village tour last July and had a fantastic time with a fabulous tour guide, Cindy. So you can imagine how thrilled we were when our tour guide arrived and who should it be but Cindy! We knew we were in for a great time and we were not disappointed. You can keep the museums, monuments, etc and give us these terrific food and culture tours! I would like to add that I agree with one of the other reviewers (donnalley) that it might be nice to start at 10:30 outside and move inside later especially in high summer. I realize that this may not be possible since the crowds are probably larger later. However, if at all possible I think it would be nice to reverse the order.

We had an excellent tour guide, who was enjoyable, informative, and made the whole experience worth every minute spent on the tour. He made you as interested in the history of not only the specific district, but the area of the city in which change has been and is currently taking place. The walk through the neighborhoods was also a treat as well as within the market. A totally enjoyable experience.

The Good, the Bad, and the Unnecessary

This tour takes three hours, the first two hours inside Chelsea Market, and the last hour outside touring the neighborhood. I enjoyed hearing about the history of Chelsea Market and tasting various foods inside the speciality shops, but found the last hour outside, when the tour guide pointed out high-priced Manhattan real estate, rather boring. I would suggest future tours spend three hours inside Chelsea Market, with more tastings and a tour through Food Network studios instead of peeking in the Buddha Bar and other high-priced restaurants. There is a place for the outside tour, but this should not have been it. If this change cannot be effected , then I suggest the tour be shortened to 2 hours, all of it inside Chelsea Market.
