Just a Wonderful New York Experience!

This tour went well beyond expectations. Not only was the sampling at the various shops in the Chelsea Market a delightful and nourishing experience but the walk through the market was also like walking through an Art museum, with sculptures everyway one looked or even sat! The safe deposit boxes outlining the elevator doors were magnificent. And the tour guide's explanation of the history of the market made this New Yorker wonder how much more about the City I really want to learn. Travelling from cupcakes to chocolate milk to lobster bisque soup to Italian olives/cheeses/mortedella sandwiches simply made me want to return for more. All this followed by a beautiful walk on the hi-line, a visit to a couple of famous restaurants and culminating in an Italian oxtail pasta meal in the Meat Packing District impressed upon me how much I have missed in Lower Manhattan. I will be back for more real soon! Anyone coming into the City should have this tour at the top of their "must do" list.

We'd never been to the Chelsea market before nor had we spent any time in that neighborhood. The various locales that we stopped at all served excellent food and we thoroughly enjoyed the chance to see the variety that exists in this area. However the highlight of the tour was the guide, Curt. He was funny and knowledgeable and he made the time that we spent on this tour seem to fly by. This was well worth the money we spent and certainly left us wanting to do other tours.

This was my second food tasting tour and I did not think it could beat the first one, but it did. I have been to NY many times yearly since I have lived in NJ my whole life but knew nothing of this neighborhood. It was so interesting to learn the history of the market and the meat packing district. The other wonderful part of the tour, of course, was the food; and there was PLENTY of it. From desserts to pasta everything we tasted was delicious. Our tour guide Diana was so enthusiastic and made the day so much fun. Can't wait to try a third tour!!

My friends and I came from Long Island to see a neighborhood unfamiliar to us. We had lots of fun seeing parts of Manhatten that we would never see if we hadn't taken this tour. Enjoyed all the foods we tasted especially the Lobster Bisque from the Lobster Market. Our tour guide was Berry. She was excellent! Would definitely recommend this tour.

Chelsea Market is in a great old building with tons of character. It houses some of the best food anyone could imagine. Our tour guide was funny and had vast amounts of information. We would highly recommend this food tour!

Enthusiastic tour guide with a lot of information on the market and the surrounding areas. It was evident that Bob loved his job! Fun to sample the food and learn the history of our location.

Chelsea/Meatpacking Food Tour is Wonderful!

This is the second Foods of NY tour I've taken. Last year I went with my daughter-in-law on the Greenwich Village tour. We loved it so much, that this year we brought our husbands. Daryl, our tour guide was wonderful. He was well-informed, friendly and funny. Most of the tour is indoors within the Chelsea Market. We only ventured out to go to one tasting in the Meat Packing area and walk on the High Line, another highlight and totally unexpected. I did feel funny because we are all native New Yorkers, and though we should have been familiar with the area, we weren't. We could have done this tour on our own, however, the experience would not have been the same. We enjoyed the history and the tastings, which we would have missed. I also enjoyed 3 new foods that I never had before and would not have ordered or tasted if we were on our own. The amount of food is ample. My only complaint, but a small one, is that I would have liked to have ended with the cupcake instead of start with it. I highly recommend this tour, even if you're a native New Yorker!

Historical food tour of meat packing district

For my birthday I treated myself to a local food walking tour of the chelsea/meat-packing district. I was expecting a lot of meat (meat-packing tour), so my kosher jewish friend did not join me. She should have and she would have had so much fun with me! It was an awesome tour, given by a woman who not only knew facts about the food we were eating (a lot of desserts) but also really fun and intersting facts about the area - what it was like in the past, and how it functions today. The end of the tour ended at a great Italian restaurant, where our group sat in the back at a communal table and had a great home-made pasta dish. I can't wait to try out another one of their tours in a different neighborhood!

The Tour Guide, Kurt, was very good! He was friendly, informative and just plain great at his job! He was very personable, patient and answered every question. The food was delicious at every stop and there was plenty to go around, sometimes even seconds! At each establishment, the people were friendly and courteous. The tour was not just about food, but also the history of the Chelsea market and surrounding area. I loved it and I want to bring my husband and daughter!
