Excellent tour guide

I have been on all three food tours. This tour covers the smallest area. Two hours and twenty minutes take place in the ten (?) year old market and only the last 40 minutes take place outdoors in a 4-5 block area surrounding the market. I would have prefered to explore the neighborhood and old establishments which have been around for decades like the other two tours do. I still enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Sam. was top-notch. He was personable (he called everyone by their first name), friendly, funny and seemed to enjoy people. There was more than enough to eat and you are hearing this from someone who can eat a lot. Everything tasted great. My favorite was the soup.

Following the Greenwich tour we had high expectations for Chelsea MKT / meatpacker and to cut a long story short we were not disapointed. The tour itself was interseting and lively, our guide Sam full of information and stories. We will be recommending the tours to all our friends visiting New York.

Have a great time with learning and snacking! Lots of great info on Chelsea market & meatpacking district - very entertaining! Seemed to be more of a focus on the market (and definately where the sampling took place), but this worked great for me.

This tour was in line with what we were looking for; a tour of the area where the Food Network is housed as-well-as multiple food stores and specialty shops and bakeries. The guide was energetic, witty and very approachable to all in the group. This was our second tour while in NYC and our guide, Sam, was excellent about asking whether or not we needed to be escorted back to the origin. The previous tour guide ended the tour and left us basically to our own devices to get back to the origin. Not a big deal for a local but an out-of-towner might feel somewhat uneasy. Overall - a highly enjoyable way to spend three hours in a teriffic city! Take the tour...

I had a great time on the tour. Bob was very knowledgeable and cordial. He did a great job! I especially liked The Lobster Place when he pulled the lobster out of the tank to show us, Del Posto and Chef Mormito's place. The grand finale was the view from the top of the last restaurant we visited. It would have been nice to stop on the FoodNetwork floor and pop our heads in, however I imagine that might take some string pulling. Overall, I loved this tour!

Chelsea Market/Meatpacking Dist Tour EXCELLENT!

We no longer live in the metro area, but were visiting for a long weekend and decided to take the Chelsea Market/Meatpacking District tour and we are so glad we did! Our guide, Bob, was excellent...a wealth of information about Chelsea Market. I had no idea of the building's history...very interesting. And the samples were plentiful and deliscious. I liked that the group was small, only 14 people and the tour lasted about 3 hours...definitely got our monies worth. I would highly recommend this tour to any foodie and I am ready to go on other Foods of New York tours!

The Good, the Bad, and the Unnecessary

This tour takes three hours, the first two hours inside Chelsea Market, and the last hour outside touring the neighborhood. I enjoyed hearing about the history of Chelsea Market and tasting various foods inside the speciality shops, but found the last hour outside, when the tour guide pointed out high-priced Manhattan real estate, rather boring. I would suggest future tours spend three hours inside Chelsea Market, with more tastings and a tour through Food Network studios instead of peeking in the Buddha Bar and other high-priced restaurants. There is a place for the outside tour, but this should not have been it. If this change cannot be effected , then I suggest the tour be shortened to 2 hours, all of it inside Chelsea Market.

We took the Greenwich Village tour twice and thought it was exceptional; so decided to take the Chelsea Market/Meatpacking District tour and we were just as pleased. The tours are fun, educational and most of all TASTY!! Had a great time. Sam was our tour guide and he made everyone feel at ease immediately and provided so much information and was just was the best!

great history, food order needs to change

Hi- I've been on your Greenwich tour as well and I prefer that one better than this one: the food was more spaced out with the walking, the order of the food was better. On this tour, we started with a wonderful cookie that should have been the last as dessert. The visit at Buono Italy should have been first with the bread and the meats. Our tour started at 11:30 so that would have made sense to have the first tasting at that time with the meats, cheese and bread. Unfortunately with the way all the eateries are contained in the market, it's understandably hard to space out the walking with the eating. I really enjoyed the history of the area. Most of the walking was done after we left the market, so ... I'd recommend the Greenwich one to friends before I would this tour. I'm going to try the Chinatown one next, so I hope you'll get that up and running in time for the fall weather.
