Best Way to "Sample" New York's Tastey Treats

I went on this tour by myself because I am a big fan of the Food Network and I planned to go to the Chelsea Market, but I was not sure what to see there. I LOVED being able to sample the cuisine from the different market places. When you are by yourself, you want to try EVERYTHING, but you only have so much room in your stomach and money in your wallet. Who wants to spend $5 on a cupcake and throw it out because you also tried lobster bisque, fruit jams, italian meats and cheeses, breads .... This tour was excellent, fun, informative, and interesting. Our host was knowledgeable, friendly, and personable. He was from the city, made everyone feel comfortable, and had a lot of great stories. I highly recommend this tour whether you are with a group or by yourself. Even being by myself, the other people on the tour and the guide were SO nice, that I felt like I was with a group. I never felt lonely. It was an excellent way to see the market and sample New York cuisine.

The tour was an interesting introduction to the Chelsea Market and Meatpacking District. The food tastings were plentiful and it really was more than enough food for lunch. There was plenty of time for browsing the shops in the market during the tour.

Really terrific tour that was better than I imagined. Our tour guide (Diana) was fun and filled with knowledge; the group was friendly and polite; and the places we stopped at were definitely off the tourist map. We all were having such a good time that the tour lasted 3.5 hours! I'd recommend this tour to anyone and have posted photos of it on my FaceBook page.

This is my third tour with this company and I enjoyed this one much more than the others. The reason? Kurt. His enthusiasm, knowledge, and hilarity made me wish I could just spend a weekend walking around the city with him. Whatever you pay him? It's not enough. :)

It was very interesting and fun! Our guide told us all about the people working from the different places we went to. Our tour guide, kurt, was phantastic! He was a very funny guy so we enjoyed the three hours with him. We extremely recommend this tour to anyone. Sure, we'll do it again the next time we're in nyc.

I, being a foodie, was not impressed with the food side of it. It seem a little ordinary and I was hoping for a little more. When it is advertised as a food walking tour, I want a little more than a blueberry mini muffin and a cheese and cracker from a basket store. Our guide was awesome.

1. Guide made judgmental remarks that suggested a lame attempt at humor or pandering to a conservative attitude. For example, "Transvestite prostitutes used to work this street. RuPaul lived here, so I guess he didn't have far to walk to go to work." Another example, "The Lower East Side is interesting, but I wouldn't go there at night - a bit dicey." 2. Toward the end of the tour, there was a stop at an empty beerhall, that appeared to be merely a 'paid advertisement' for a place that offered "draft beer and ping-pong!!?" 3. It would have been nice if any of the shop owners acknowledged our group. I broke away, and met Sarabeth and got her to autograph her new book for me. It would have been nice if the guide had facilitated something like this.
