Cindy, our guide, was wonderful....only suggestion...decrease the quantity of the food...portions were too big. Possibly add a gelato to "lighten" the heaviness of the foods. |

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District - Cindy is a fabulous guide - really knows the history and loves the city. She has a great sense of humor and makes the whole group feel welcome. (Also highly recommend Cindy for the Greenwich Village Tour which I took last year). Food was absolutely delicious - not one disappointment in the whole array - portions were just the right size and a good mix of sweet and savoury - from lobster bisque and clam chowder to tea biscuits and homemade pasta. They also make every attempt to accomodate people with food allergies or dietary restrictions.
Trip up to the HighLine was a good intro into the area - wonderful to see how the old rail line was reclaimed. Would have loved to go into one of the old meat packing plants too.
A great way to spend a few hours - highly recommended. |

Everything about the tour was enjoyable.
Bob, our guide, was well versed in the history of the area and possessed the heart of a foodie. Samples were so generous that we didn't eat anything again until late that
night.
The Lobster Place was my favorite stop along the tour thanks to the lobster "tamer" and some top shelf soup choices.
Really appreciated Bob's knowledge of the up to date real estate and restaurant scene in the area. |

Very informative tour. Excellent value for the money. We enjoyed the assortment of foods and our guide was very knowledgeable. Need to perhaps allow 5 mins or so for clients to take pictures while on the High Line. I highly recommend it. |

Not enough food/samples

This was my 2nd food/walking tour with Foods of NY Tours. The first one being Greenwich Village. Your website indicates that for most people, the samples are enough to satisfy one's food appetite. I strongly disagree with this. We (4 adults) purchased something more to eat immediately after the tour was over. I was not at all full or satisfied. Pls. remember, everyone has different likes and dislikes, so they may not eat the entire sample or pass it up all together. I love the idea of a food walking tour, but for someone who is a total "foodie", the small samples are inadequate.
Also, at each establishment, choices would work better. For example, at the bakery, everyone was given a blueberry muffin. I love muffins....except for blueberry.
Thanks for listening! |

The Chelsea Market offers a great assortment of really wonderful eateries. A large number are in an old, industrial setting (the old Nabisco factory) of converted loading docs and warehouse spaces. The ambiance is wonderful with a main corridor of irregular proportions and large adjoining spaces filled with alternating industrial kitchens and warm, inviting boutique shops. The food is simply delicious and represents many ethnic varieties, although authentic Italian cuisine seems to dominate. What really made this tour memorable tho, was the host. An extremely knowledgeable 'foody' with a non-stop staccato of witty and genuinely funny remarks, all geared precisely to impart information as well as humor. The tour stands on it's own, but if you want a truly fun experience ask for Kurt Upton as the tour guide. You won't be disappointed. |

I was on the tour this past Sat. Nov. 6th and was very impressed, particularly by our tour guide, Kurt Upton. He was a well-oiled machine, very humorous, personable, patient and strived to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves. He made all the difference between a good tour and a fantastic tour!! I skipped breakfast so i would have an appetite for the 12:30 tour and I'm so glad I did. I was stuffed long before the tour ended. I highly recommend this tour.
