My 19 year daughter and I have been going to NYC during spring break for the past three years. I came across the Chelsea Market food tour on the internet and we decided to give it a try. We had a nice variety and plenty of food. Our tour guide, Darrell, was great. He was informative, interesing, and had a good sense of humor. We did the tour at the end of our NYC stay, but I recommend it for the beginning in case you would want to revisit some of the shops and/or restaurants.

This is a real treat for food and history lovers; the variety of places where we stopped for tastings was great, although we had dessert first. (Life is short, right?) As a bonus, our group spied THE Rachael Rae shopping with her husband in several of the shops we visited. Our guide Bob, although fairly new to his job as a tour guide, gave a nice overview of the Chelsea Market and the surrounding Meatpacking District including some restaurant recommendations. We also visited the wine cellar at Del Posto, Mario Batali's new restaurant in the Meatpacking District.(No tasting.) An enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in NYC.

We really enjoyed this tour. Two of the three hours were spent indoors, which was good because it was a very cold day. (the Greenwich tour is all outdoors) Enjoyed the history behind the Market and the Meatpacking District. Our only complaint was that it was very hard to hear our guide--the market is loud and he was fairly softspoken---would recommend a microphone of some sort! He was very knowledgeable and fun. The taste-tasting was really nice and it was an ample amount to take the place of a lunch meal. Would maybe like to see more taste testing outside the market at other local restaurants. Would still recommend this tour, though. We have done the Greenwich Village tour and consider these both to be our favorite thing to do in New York--it is a more "authentic" New York thing to do for outsiders--doesn't have a commercial feel.

This was the best thing we did the entire time we were in New York. I only wish we had done it earlier in the week so that we would've known of the great food in this area. Our tour guide was great. He was very entertaining and knowledgable. We were expecting small tastings, but were full when we left. When we return to New York we will definately book a tour similar to this again. My 13 year old daughter even said this was her favorite part of the trip. Thanks for a great experience.

If you're a "foody" this is a must. In 3 hours with an entertaining guide, you taste your way through the funkily rennovated Chelsea Market and learn about the history of the meatpacking district.

A beautiful day.....A well thought out tour..... and Daryl was the greatest! I have been to New York City many times and this was the first time I was a member of a "food tasting tour". We were provided with history, culture, and wonderful samples of delicious foods by a well versed historian who is also a comedian. If I was ever in doubt, I am not anymore. You could spend an entire day at Chelsea Market. On my next trip to New York City I will make a point to experience Greenwich Village and Soho
