We were only in town for 3-4 days, so I felt like this 3 hours could've been spent better on something else. There's so much to do in NYC. But, if you're there for a week or so and you're interested in the history and culture, then you might enjoy it. We felt that the pace was a bit slow. If it's your first time in NYC then I'd save this excursion for the next time. You could always stop by and sample a few things on your own in far less time. Fat Witch Bakery is definitely a do not miss.

I would not have known Chelsea Market was even there if it had not been for this tour, and it is a beautiful, interesting place. I would prefer to have more samples of unusual foods, and history of the foods/chefs of NYC, but overall, the tour was interesting.

Best part, of course, was the food tasting (especially the croissant from French Oven!). I was surprised by how much food there was to sample - it really was a good lunch (although the courses were not in order - I love having dessert first and last). I've been to Chelsea Market several times before (Frank's) but will definitely go back more often. It personalized the place in a way that made it more approachable. I'm from a small town on Long Island where you know who owns & runs the supermarket and after the day was over I felt that same familiarity with Chelsea Market. Looking forward to seeing how the Meat Packing District will change even more in the next few years. Thanks!

Loved the tour. The best was our guide, Kurt. He really made the tour. He was funny and seemed to have alot of info. He also seemed to love what he was doing. Would definitely recommend this to people.

We loved our guide, Kurt, who gave us so much information on the area. We also enjoyed the tastings and were more than full. I just thought we'd be outside more in the immediate area, not just in the market. I have to say Kurt made the event for us!

| I booked on the Chelsea/Meatpacking District Tour having done the Foods of NY tour of Greenwich Village last year, which was absolutely terrific. Although my friends and I enjoyed enjoyed the Chelsea tour overall - and all the food tastings were delicious - for me it suffered in comparison with my Greenwich Village tour last year. While the Greenwich tour had been led by a real local who knew everything and everyone about the Village, and really brought the area to life, the Chelsea tour was led by a resting actor who was chirpy and friendly, but lacked the local knowledge and passion for food I'd been expecting....added to which he kept inexplicably disappearing, and didn't really manage to create a group dynamic on the tour.
Overall still worth doing as the area is really interesting and it's a real foodie haven, but a note to Foods of NY that it would be worth them ensuring that ALL of their tour leaders are as passionate and knowledgeable as their best. |

This tour was great and I would recommend it to anyone. You get to experience the whole market and the wonderful foods that is ha to offer. The food is great and there is plenty of it- don't even think about needing a meal after. After the market you walk around the meat packing district learning the history of the areas and the plans to preserve it. This was a great way to spend a rainy day, eating and learning about a great neighborhood in NYC.

I toured Chelsea Market on Saturday, June 3, 2006. The guide was funny, informed and a pleasure to spend time with. He kept us on schedule but also allowed us roaming time. As for the market itself, it's beyond words. I loved every tasting and felt welcomed along the way. I would highly recommend this tour to locals & tourists who love good food.

Our guide Darryl was darling, fun & knowledgeable!! He was enthusiastic and flexible. It was awesome to learn so much history of the Chelsea Market as well as the Meatpacking District. The food was amazing and so interesting. Definitely filled us up for lunch. I would recommend it to anyone and looking forward to going on another tour soon!
