This tour was fantastic. Cyndi was our tour guide and she was extremely knowledgeable and very entertaining. I learned so much about the history of the meat packing district and found it all very enjoyable. The food tasting was wonderful. I can not believe how much food we sampled. Everything was delicious. I am very anxious to take other tours offered. This is definitely a must do!!!! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

I really enjoyed the tour this past weekend. It was great to get a personal guided tour through Chelsea Market/Meat Packing District from a true New Yorker who is intimately familiar with the city.

What made this tour so wonderful & enjoyable was our tour guide, Kurt, hands-down. He was super knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We live in NYC and have been through Chelsea Market bunches of times, but it was SUCH a treat to experience it this way "behind the scenes" with such a pro/insider. Highly recommend it!

As neighbors to NYC, we live in Connecticut. Of all the times we have visited the city, we have never taken any tours. We considered the idea too touristy. Boy were we wrong. We took this tour based on my step mother's recommendation. It was fantastic. It is a great way to get an in depth look at a small geographical area of NYC. I was entertained for the entire three hours and learned so much. Our tour guide was personable, enthusiastic and totally funny. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about NYC. You don't even have to be a fan of the food to have fun on this tour.

Our tour guide, Cindy, was so much fun. She was extremely personable and knew so much about Chelsea Market! My husband and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

What a fabulous way to spend an afternoon! We greatly enjoyed this tour of Chelsea market. Kurt, our guide, was a part time stand up comic and we could tell! What a riot. Both his scripted bits and the off the cuff stuff. Our bellies hurt from laughing so much. The food was also fabulous. We were surprised by the portion size of our tasting, giant cookies, whole bowls of soup, plates full of Italian delicacies..we were stuffed. Overall this was super. Our only regret was that we really couldn't shop...no where to keep the fish and cheese back at the hotel. We definitely want to return for shopping on our way home from NYC on our next trip.

I live in Chelsea so I know the market pretty well. Our tour guide was nice and fun but I think that not worth it. I was hoping for more historical information and access to areas that aren't available to the public. The historical facts were foggy at best (dates were specific down to centuries ie. 1800s and dollar figures were expressed in nebulous terms like "godzillions"). I was hoping for the tour to be more informative. It was also loooong. I knew that it would be 3 hours but I did not think that it would be filled with so much time waiting to go on to the next vendor. I would recommend taking the money that you would have spent on this tour and just go to the market and buy a bunch of food, ask vendors questions and be done with it in half the time.

| We had a truly fantastic time on this tour. It was a cold, blustery day out, but as other reviews have stated, this particular tour takes place mostly indoors. We were inside for the first two hours, and even in the last hour, we were only outside for at most 10 minutes at a time. So this one is perfect for the winter months.
Due to the weather, my husband and I were the only two people on the tour. This could potentially have been uncomfortable, but happily, we LOVED Kurt (sp?) the tour guide, who was funny, charming, conversational, and infectiously enthusiastic throughout. We both remarked afterwards that it felt like we had spent the afternoon with a friend... who just happened to know all the people and history and restaurants and surroundings of Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District like the back of his hand.
Last but not least, the food was amazing. The items may change from tour to tour, but on the day we went, we had an "everything" cookie, gourmet chocolate milk, lobster bisque, organic bread, a sampling of various Italian foods, cheese/preserves/crackers, fruit spreads with biscuits, berry tea and gelato. We are big eaters but were definitely very full by the end. We have been recommending this tour to everyone we know! |

My friend and I did the Greenwich Village walking tour in June 2008. We were pleasantly surprised and told all of our friends how wonderful it was and insisted they do the tour. We decided to try the Chelsea Market tour and convinced several friends to go. All of the tasting was done in the market which we had already explored while waiting. It was just very disappointing compared to the Greenwich Village tour. We expected more walking outside. I also was not nearly as full and felt it was not worth 44.00
