Our 2nd favorite tour with Foods of NY

I had participated in this tour previously with friends and wanted my husband to experience it. We enjoyed it, but not quite as much as the Greenwich Village tour. I think Chelsea Market is an easy place to go and navigate without scheduling an organized tour, but if I was going to recommend one to others, it would definitely be with Foods of NY. Also, after the Greenwich tour, we felt like we had a "full meal" whereas, we did not feel that way after Chelsea Market. We understand that the food is only intended to be a sampling, but we enjoyed feeling like we had lunch during the Greenwich tour and had no desire to eat afterward.

A friend mentioned this tour to me before I left Australia so I looked into it when I got to New york. As the day was a bit rainy it seemed an excellent way to spend the day. Our guide was professional and friendly and the tour was fabulous. All the providors we visited had lovely produce and the tastings were a great bonus. I have already recommended the tour to another friend and would not hesitate to encourage others to take the tour. A fantastic way to spend a day in New York

My friend and I had been on a food tour of Chicago, and enjoyed it so much, we found this tour online. We live in Toronto, and are always up to combining 2 of our favourite things - food and learning about cities. This tour was awesome. Ed was very knowledgeable and professional, and made us feel really comfortable from the beginning. The food was excellent, and so were the quantities. I would have loved a bit more gelato though, and we were disappointed that we didn't visit the Fat Witch brownie place, but we went back there and bought one on our own, among other things from the amazing stores in the market afterwards. I agree with other reviews, the visit to the washrooms in Morimoto's was definitely a highlight - I'll let you find out why - and we were honoured with a non-tour moment in Del Posto that we really thank Ed very much for - it made our trip very special! We are both big Iron Chef America fans, so it was awesome to see the 2 restaurants on the tour. Great job guys!!! We would definitely do another Manhattan food tour through the same company in a heartbeat.

We have been traveling to NYC annually for 6 years. This was the first food tour ever taken and we are planning to take the Greenich Tour and the Sushi Tour next year. Ed, our guide was fantastic and lots of fun! The Chelsea Market is incredible and the food was excellent. Don't overlook the bathrooms at Morimotos!!

this was my first walking tour and also my first time to new york city. the tour was one of the best things i did in nyc. i am so glad i booked this, but do so early because they book up quickly. our guide did a great job explaining the history of everything from the chelsea market building to the food to the meat packing neighborhood. we also were able to go into two celebrity chef restaurants (mario and morimoto), that was great for foodies! we were able to sample a variety of foods from the market and then you can go back after and spend more time and purchase things. if you love food and history this is the tour for you!

Fun walking and eating tour of Chelsea market

The tour started out with our tour guide, Ed, introducing himself and handing out bottled water and napkins. The food stops were quite good overall, although I personally would have liked to have seen a few more places in the market. The portions of food were good for snacking and overall sufficient enough that we didn't need to get lunch afterwards. However, there are two things that I would recommend changing: The first stop is at Eleni's for a tremendously large oatmeal cookie. I would rather have had a smaller cookie and add another stop at a different vendor for another tasting of something else. Perhaps set up something with the Fat Witch Brownie co next door? Also, I think that if were possible to even just go and see the lobby of the Food Network (as opposed to just looking at the elevator that takes you up there), that would have been uber cool. Yes, I realize that would be sort of a hard thing to arrange (and probably expensive, at that, but I can dream, right?) Touring both Mario Batali's Del Porto and Morimoto's NYC branch restaurant were highlights for us, especially seeing the stark contrast between the two atmospheres. We appreciated the dining tip at Del Porto - I don't want to steal their thunder, so you'll just have to take the tour to find out what it is, but trust me, it's worth it if you ever decide to dine there. The tour of the meatpacking district, while historically interesting, was somewhat lacking in the tasting department. I would have liked to have had some kind of tasting set up at at least one of these places. Overall, though, if you're a foodie, you'll enjoy this tour. Definitely bring comfortable shoes and a camera to commemorate the event.

Great experience

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was a great way for me, as a New Yorker, to entertain my out of town guest and to learn something about that neighborhood at the same time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Her delivery was humorous and the food was wonderful. At the end of the tour she also guided us to our next activity, which added to our appreciation.

This was a fantastic tour, if all of the tour guides are as good as the one we had (Curt) everyone who takes this tour will get more than their money's worth. The food was great and plentiful. The history of the area and information about various places was interesting & informative, and was delivered in a fun & conversational manner that kept the pace moving and engaging. I will absolutely recommend this tour to anyone I know who is traveling to New York City.
