Valentines Weekend
Sat, Feb 16, 08   11:30 AM ChristineB Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My husband and I are from North NJ and we take frequent trips to NYC for shows, dinner, museums etc. My husband was in charge of our plans for the Valentines weekend. It was not at all of what I expected, but even better. Our tour guide Sam was outstanding. He had a very friendly attitude along with helpful knowledge that educated us of places and facts. Along with this tour we got to try foods in almost every restaurant in the Chelsea Market. This was a 3 hr tour and we were both stuffed by the 1st hour. It was wonderful! Whether you live in NYC or out of town, I recommend this tour. We will definitely be back!!

This tour far exceeded our already high expectations. The food we sampled, the area, the group were all excellent. Our tour guide, Kurt, was extremely knowledgeable, informative, and most of all hysterically funny! We left knowing some interesting things about the area, stuffed with great food, & laughing all afternoon. Highly recommend this for locals, not just tourists! Definitely a great outing with friends, as a gift - for any occasion! I can't wait to try the other tours!

Our Tour Was truly more than we could have imagined or hoped for. Our tour guide was enthusastic, genuinely enjoyed what he was doing and it showed. He really made sure we all had a great time and it was a great Value. My Husband and I both work in the Hotel Business and had very high expectations. The Tour Delivered it all. We know the chelsea market already but was introduced to new things we had overlooked and were thrillled from Start to Finish. We will both Highly Recommend this tour and the Zerve Website as well. Thank you for a Job Well Done. Two Thumbs up for Kurt as well . He was Great.

Chelsea Market Tour - What a Deal!

Samson was a very engaging and enthusiastic guide, and the tour covered a LOT of ground! We were very impressed with the food, and Samson is obviously well-thought-of by the vendors in the market. A few comments, however: 1. We were told we would be coming back to Chelsea Market at the end of the tour. In fact, we ended up on the penthouse level of a hotel several blocks away, where Samson joined a couple guests in the bar and left the rest of us to make our way. Since we did want to shop at some of the places we'd seen, it was a little inconvenient to have to walk all the way back on our own. 2. We thought we heard Samson say that the Food Network studio, or at least part of it, would be in the tour, and we were not shown anything from the Foot Network. 3. While it was neat to see Morimoto and Battali's restaurants, it would have been more interesting to hear/see more of the history of the area. Our "meatpacking" part of the tour involved walking past a place that had old signs on it, with an active meatpacking plant across the street but we didn't see any of it. Again, we loved the tour and have already highly recommended it but there were a couple areas we felt we were a little misleading in terms of what was actually included in the tour. We'll definitely check again next time we come to NYC! Thank you!

We had such a good time on the tour. The food was delicious. Our tour guide was funny, informative and very entertaining. We also received a booklet of all the places we visited. We are already thinking about signing up for another tour through a different area! This was so fun! I will recommend this tour to everyone I know.

I can't imagine a better 3 hours in New York. Our tour guide, Samson, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic without being cheerleader-annoying. The selection and quality of food was top-notch. Definitely don't eat lunch before you go, though!

First of all let me start of by saying that our tour guide Curt was awesome. He was very entertaining and really knew his stuff. If you choose to take this tour I highly recommend Curt as your tour guide. The places we visited were very interesting and food was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better way to spend our afternoon. I will definitely recommend this to everyone I know traveling to NYC. Thank you much. The Garza's from Texas.

Chelsea/Meatpacking district was a nice surprise!

My 55 y/o mother and I did this tour on a Sunday in January. Our group was a mixed group of mothers/daughters, singles in town on business, local NYC family with teens, local NJ family with teens. Our guide Kurt was entertaining and informative. He also provided bottled water for everyone and a packet of information that listed all places we would stop into or pass by-which will be very helpful for return trips! We toured the Chelsea Market (old Nabisco cookie factory) and sampled food from many of the shops and then walked the surrounding meatpacking district. Our food: large gourmet cookie, organic chocolate milk, full cup of lobster bisque(or another choice), chocolate truffle, gourmet potato chips and gourmet salts, nice sampling of Italian meats/cheeses/olive/bread, buttermilk biscuit with fresh apricot/blackberry spread, organic tea, and wonderful small Italian gelato-we were also given a coupon for a free wine tasting on our own. He was prepared and provided vegetarian alternatives to the one vegetarian in our group. The tour was 75% indoors with a bathroom break. After Chelsea Market, we walked the neighborhood stopping into a couple of restaurants and for historical and humorous information. We briefly viewed a home/garden that is also a B&B-interesting for outsiders to see. We went to the Hotel Vansevoort's roof top bar area and around to the back open air deck for a great view. The tour ended 1-2 blocks from where we began at Chelsea Market. A word of caution-one participant received a $115 parking ticket for parking outside of the Market-pay careful attention to the signs. The tour was interesting and informative. We both agreed that we saw things and learned information that we would not have noticed/ found/ learned on our own. We were happy and not hungry at the end of our tour. But, for large eaters I would not count this as "lunch" and for foodies...there was nothing outside the box or anything you have not had before...but, again, it was all good. The tour was $40pp and all participants tipped at the end. Our guide helped give everyone directions on how to get to their next destination or the nearest subway. I recommend this tour for tourist and locals alike. I will not do this tour again...because, I don't see how it can vary much...but, will definitely try another tour from this company. Happy Travels!
