A unique birthday gift for Mom

My sister and I took my mother on this tour as part of her 60th birthday gift. It was a nice way to learn about the culture of the area and the history of the market place. It will certainly be a fond memory for all of us. The tastings were delicious, especially the hot soup on a cold day in November.

My friend was visiting from Chicago. She and I wanted to have a quick sample of the West Village. I saw this tour recommended in a Sun Country In Flight magazine. We decided to give it a try. The day was very well spent. Cindy was a fun, knowledgeable, and very upbeat tour guide. The food tasting was the perfect amount and variety. I plan to take the other tours available. This was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thank you!

Great for people new to the area

The Chelsea Market and Meatpacking District Food Tasting Tour was both enjoyable and educational. (Not to mention tasty!) The tour guide was fabulous and it was excellent to gain insight on the history and future of this dynamic area of NY. Despite all these good things, I felt $40 for a tour, a ladle of soup, a couple slices of deli meat , two shots of milk, part of a piece of bread, a few olives and some crackers was a little steep. I would recommend this tour for those interested in the history of the area, but would probably not take another one again.

I recommend this trip to everyone who thinks they know the city! We learned so much and have recommended the trip to all our friends. Cindy was informative and entertaining. Can't wait to try the other tours.

What a great way to see a different side of NYC - far away from Times Square. You learn a great deal about one of the unique areas of the city and in the process get to sample some amazing foods - breads, meats, cheeses, and croissants and on and on. With any luck you get Cindy as your tour guide - she is very funny, enthusiastic and keeps you very interested.

A great New York experience!
Sun, Nov 13, 05   11:30 AM Jeffrey Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We travel to NYC once a year and this was our first culinary tour. We were with a great group of people and our tour leader was friendly, well-informed, and funny. We learned a lot about the area (Chelsea and the Meat Packing district) as well as some good recommendations for other areas of Manhattan. The tour was a lot of fun and we ate some great samples (definitely enough to be considered a full meal). We were so impressed with our time at the Chelsea Market that we returned the next day. We also sought out some of the vendors which had stores in other areas.

Really Great Time

This was a great way to spend some time in NYC, see things we would not have seen on our own, oh yes, and to eat some good food. Our guide was excellent, and as on most tours, made this one as great as it was. In fact, the food was in some ways the least of the tour. We intend to go on the Village tour next time we are back.

This a very unique expereince which encompasses historical (and very interesting) facts with excellent food tastings from various shops. Our tour guide (Kurt) was amazing...very entertaining, kind and informative...the best tour guide I've seen pretty much ever. Do miss this great expereince and if possible request Kurt!

Our favorite activity while in NYC!

My friend and I whole-heartedly agree! We absolutely loved this tour - and a big part of the fun were our tour guides! We had Wendy for the first half of the tour. Then, we lost our group because of way too much gawking at the fabulous foods, and did the second part with Kirk! They were both truly hysterical, quick-witted, kind, informative, wonderful people! No question was too stupid, they welcomed it all! The Meat Packing District is so unique. We never would have learned everything we did without this tour. Not to mention, an awareness of some wonderful restaurants in the area. Afterwards, we had mojitos at Son Cubano - per Kirk's recommedation! Lastly, the Lobster Bisque at the Lobster Place was the best thing I've ever eaten. I still dream of it and will go back next year. Thank you for providing such a great tour! It was loads of fun and a unique way to spend 3 hours in the city! Lisa Spiotta
