exclusive, very educational and informative
Fri, Apr 30, 10   11:30 AM lisasilva Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
a broad education in the history surrounding the changes in the meatpacking district and cultural, social and economic impact on the City. A clearly informative narrative paints a vivid and descriptive view of the transformation of the Chelsea Market into what it is today; tastings and sampling of foods add authentic flavor to the experience.Great fun for young and old.

Kurt, the guide, made the tour!
Fri, Apr 30, 10   10:30 AM sandyapp Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Our guide, Kurt, was extremely knowledgeable about the district and food. He talked for 3 1/2 hours non-stop and the information was fantastic and very interesting. Add a great sense of humor and it was 3 hours worth every penny! The food is not just a small sample either. We ate cups of soup, big cookies, chocolates, breads, meats, cheeses and were completely stuffed after the tour. Looking forward to doing it again.

When researching the available tours on line, I was taken by the comments of previous visitors to the Chelsea Market food tour. After booking, I did hope that it would live up to my expectation....Well it did. If you are reading this review and are not sure, then don't!!! Be assured that this tour and all other provided are exceptional!! This was my second tour that I booked and it was fantastic!! Our tour guide Kurt was not only knowledgable but entertaining!!. The 3 hours just flew by, and I walked away so full from all the delicous tastings. I have done alot of travelling worldwide and have undertaken quite a number of cooking classes and tours...this would have to be in my estimation, possible the best value and information/enterating food tour I have ever attended!! DON''T hesitate!! book now!!!

Our tour guide Kurt was fantastic! Loved learning about the history of the Chelsea Market and fun stories about the current tenants. Great mix of food tastings from the market and meatpacking district - all delicious!

Not as good as the Greenwich Village Tour

We liked the Greenwich Village Tour, and were disappointed in the Meatpacking District as a destination. Rather than see a whole neighborhood and a lot of restaurants, we just saw stores and one building (for the most part). Sorry!

Felt like we had the food all to ourselves!

Highly recommend this Chelsea market tour---it poured rain that Sunday and the tour made for a perfect rainy day activity----a large group of 10 had cancelled due to the rain--but it was that much more intimate for the seven of us......and lots of extra "tastes" for us----they fed you great quantities of food and our guide, Darryl from Texas, was a gracious host and storyteller--he even sang and danced with us......can't say enough good things about this company---it was my second time with them (did the Greenwich Village tour with my husband and kids several years ago) and it's definitely worth every penny!!

I can't wait to go on another Foods of NY tour!
Sun, Apr 25, 10   10:30 AM skwestfall Female 20-29 Local Family Without Children
I went on a culinary tour with another company last fall, but my experience with Foods of NY was exponentially better! The tour combined delicious tastings with interesting local and Chelsea Market specific history --a recipie for a great time!
