A Great way to spend the day in the city

I planned the walking tour as part of a team outing for work. The group seemed to really enjoy the historical infomation and insights. There was definitely enough food for lunch, but I would recommend that the guide actually start with more substantive food first, rather than filling us up on sugar and salt. Overall, we enjoyed the variety of the places and sights. Going from the Chelsea market out to the meatpacking area, then a local bed and breakfast, really highlighted the complex neighborhood that is indicative of the area. Our guide was insightful and fun.

We were very happy and surprised at what we did and ate... the food was great! I am recommending this tour to everyone I talk to! I would have liked to have tasted something from a couple of the restaurants that we stopped in... but I can say that if we didn't walk around town... I would never have done it on my own. I feel better about it having seen it once.

Our tour leader, Kurt, could not have been better. He was smart and funny, and really knew his stuff. The market was so interesting and the food samples were delicious. However, most samples were high calorie and carb-laden, and I think that we could have gotten as good a sampling of what the market had to offer with perhaps some healthier food choices. The walking tour of the surrounding neighborhood was fascinating. I learned a lot, even though I am a New York City native. I would highly recommend this tour.

This was the best tour we've ever taken! Our guide Kurt was hysterical and was so enthusiastic he had us laughing and enjoying ourselves the whole time. We had family members from 65 to 13 and everyone thought that this was the highlight of our trip. We loved the Chelsea Market and the area surrounding. The food and stores were fantastic and we spent hours after the tour going back to enjoy them more. Fabulous tour and GREAT tour guide! I would recommend for anyone who loves food and loves to laugh!

A Filling Experience!

My daughter and I went on this tour. We both enjoyed it very much. The guide, Kurt, was very knowledgeable and so funny! We enjoyed the taste testing very much. We had bakery items, soup, breads, dairy, Italian specialty, gelato, and lots more! All good stuff! The Salt tasting experience I personally could have skipped! I would recomend this tour to anyone who enjoys food and enjoys seeing rather strange places to buy it! The history of the are was facinating! I even got to see where a part of the Food Network is!

It was just ok.

I really feel it was quite expensive for as much food as you got on the tour. The tour itself was very interesting... our guide was terrific and made it a lot of fun. I just thought for a food tour you would get more food, though. All we had was a croissant, milk, some salt (this was the worst part, who wants to taste different types of salt?!), a biscuit with spreadable fruit, soup, bread with salami and cheese, and lemonade. All spread over three hours. We were starving when we left!! My friend went on another one in the Village, and that one was much better (food-wise) than the Chelsea St. Market tour. But again, the tour itself was good and the tour guide was great!!! Next time, MORE FOOD!!!

Fantastic Experience with Great Tastings!

Although one of our group members hesitated at the idea of a "Walking Tour", he enthusiastically participated and found the experience very rewarding. We found that there were many places to sit and rest, while enjoying the tastings from the best markets in town. We were all fascinated by the history of the market, and were thoroughly entertained by our tour guide, Curt. We found him to be very knowlegable of the area, and were very happy to see that he was our guide for the Greenwich Village tour later in the week, which was equally as enjoyable. Our group highly recommends this tour to those who want to find out about the history of these areas, enjoy delicious tastings, and discover new restaurants to return to in the future.

Great food and great stories

My husband and I wanted to see NYC in a less conventional way. We are so glad we included the Chelsea Market & Meatpacking District tour. Had we just meandered through the Market and Meatpacking District, we would have enjoyed looking at the many delectable offerings, but we would never have sampled so many of them. The food samples that our entertaining guide, Curt, served us were a perfect variety and DEFINITELY enough to fill us up as an elongated lunch (which started with dessert first!) The history and stories that Curt told were priceless, because they gave life to the Market's and District's essence. (HINT: If you do this tour on a hot afternoon like we did, you will be glad for the air-conditioning in the Market for the first 2/3 of the tour!) This tour was worth every penny, and a nice contrast to the hectic pace of the rest of our busy activities. We look forward to doing the other Food Tours on a future visit. Thanks for adding to our memorable visit to NYC.

A Great Time!

A group of friends and I took the tour last Saturday and had a great time! Our tour guide Curt was the best. Even though I'm sure he has given this tour many times, he made it seem fresh and new. I loved his sense of humor. This is a great thing to do if your looking for something a little different than the typical "tourist" stuff. I would highly recommend it!
