Amazed at the transformation of the Chelsea Market
Thu, Jul 3, 08   11:00 AM TerrieF Female 40-49 Combination Family With Children
I lived in New York years ago when the Nabisco building was abandoned. Coming back for a visit, I was amazed at the transformation of the Chelsea Market. The bakeries, wine vault, seafood market and vegetable markets were some of the businesses that lined the hallways of the old Nabisco building. I strongly suggest that if you once lived in NY and are returning for a visit you must take this tour. It is amazing how the entire area has changed. It was wonderful.

Our group ranged in age from 11 to 50 & we all enjoyed the tour. We liked every one of our stops (food vendors and restaurants) and food. The tea store was our least favorite stop. We would've like to spend a little more time in the meatpacking district, but maybe we saw all that there was to see. It was a unique part of NY that we wouldn't have otherwise visited or learned about. Our tour guide (Ed) was easy to hear and knowledgeable.

Good, not great

We spent 2 hours in Chelsea Markets which was too much. It could have been covered in half the time. Our tour guide (Kurt) was great, but the tour itself was just OK.

Tour guides are informative, fun, engaging and interactive. The establishments were accomodating, appreciative and had wonderful samples. The 3 hours flew by! The groups were small enough to be able to hear the guide and move from place to place methodically. Really enjoyed it, would take another tour in the future.

A not to be missed tour - so very memorable!

Our guide Ed was upbeat and enthusiasic as well as having the expected degree of knowledge. The tour was just the right pace and the food stops truly amazing. This was certainly a highlight of our trip to New York. Having only a few days in the Big Apple we were working on a very tight schedule. the only down side being that we should have planned more time to go back to all of the stores to brows and buy of course. We did both the Chelsea Market and Greenwich Village food tasting tours and I preferred the Chelsea and my partner preferred the Greenwich - I suggest you book both, time permitting and make your own mind!

Great Guide-Mediocre food

We really enjoyed our guide,Sam-he was funny and made us all feel comfortable-the food was just so-so with the exception of the lobster bisque-which was fabulous- also we started wiht a cookie -not a good idea-the biscuits were awful-cold and the jam was like from t he supermarket- a hot roll with some fancy butter would be a better option

sam did a great job!! have him do other tours too

my family (husband and 2 kids, ages 12 and 16) have done 2 other of your tours, and this one was terrific. we were pleasantly surprised, and sam did a super job in many ways: he learned each of our names right away (that's a daunting task) he joked around while teaching us historical facts his enthusiasm was contagious he was great with all types of people (my kids, the int'l tourists, and all) he made us feel comfortable and involved in the tour -- rather than being lectured he involved each of us with eye contact and fun questions cant wait til you guys offer more tours of the city -- how bout harlem area? or arthur avenue? or lower east side? or even upper east/west manhattan? we will sign up for every one -- we find it fun, informative, and yummy! you do a great job and thank you again to sam from sam/emily/john/ellen
