We enjoyed the guided tour of the Chelsea food market. The guide was very interesting and well informed. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had a great time. It is a mostly indoor tour so it is good for the cold weather we were having at the time.

Less Talk, More Food

For $40 a head, we expected more food. You only do get a real small sample per stop/tasting. The tour-lady is kind and enthusiastic; but she kept on talking and talking and talking... So basically if the 3-hour tour was only 1.5 hours, it would've been superb. Still would recommend to people.

My daugher-in-law and I were in the city for a "girl's" trip and enjoyed this tour very much. Curt, our tour guide was very informative and very entertaining. All of the stops provided us with great food and interesting New Yorkers to tell us about their products. We were lucky enough to meet Sarabeth on our tour and did go to one of her restaurants the next day. We also enjoyed the "walk-thru" of the B & B. I would highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful introduction to a new part of the city

This past Sunday we had the great good fortune to spend 3 hours with Todd learning about Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking district. "We" includes 7 of us - ages 13 through 60+ who were visiting New York for the weekend. All 7 of us completely enjoyed the experience. Todd is obviously passionate about the area he is guiding groups through, and gave us a slice of the history of the area as well as of what the future of the area my be. All aspects of the tour were well thought out and well planned. The two members of the group with food allergies were thrilled to be able to participate in all of the tastings - modifications had been made to include them (I had noted the allergies when we reserved our places). We are planning our next trip to the city - with a day spent exploring the area on our own - including dinner in one of the restaurants Todd recommended, and a day set aside to take the Greenwich Village tour. Thank you!

If you do one tour in NYC - make this the one!

We had such a wonderful time on the Chelsea Market/Meat Packing District Tour! As soon as we walked through the door - we were amazed at how this spacious indoor location is practically hidden from the "typical" NYC hustle and bustle. Our tour guide, Kurt, was very entertaining and informative. We have already told people - strangers, even - that even though you can wander around New York and find a million things to do, it makes it more fun when you have someone giving you the history about an area. From the marketplace into the meat-packing district, the fun facts were definitely an added treat. But of course, the star of the tour was the FOOD! We got to taste-test almost all of the shops in the marketplace: the dairy, bakeries, seafood, italian, and sweet shops! You'll definitely need to skip breakfast and this will serve as your "meal-for-the-day." We were stuffed! The tour was one of our favorite parts of our trip to NYC, and we can't wait to come back again and bring our friends!

Curt gave an informative tour of the Chelsea Market/Meatpacking District and with a great bit of humor. All that and great tastings! This tour was a wonderful way to learn the history of the neighborhoods as well as the buildings. We could have wandered around the Chelsea Market and had fun but never would have a clue about how it all happened. We returned to some of the recommended restaurants for dinner and were not disappointed! Much better to see the place, learn about it and return to dine. If you are a foodie I highly recommend the tour. You won't be disappointed! PS--Don't eat before.

Delicious, Entertaining, and Educational, Too!

We chose this tour because it covered areas we'd never visited previously. The Chelsea Market turned out to be fascinating--an artfully restored former baked goods plant with one-of-a-kind wholesale food operations completely unlike the cookie-cutter businesses that so often occupy restored historic buildings. The various foods and beverages we sampled there were delicious and generous in amount--so much so that we didn't even think about eating again until dinnertime. We also enjoyed the walk through the Meatpacking District and the vivid contrast between its working-class origins and appearance and its newfound cache as a high-end shopping and nightlife destination. The size of the group (16) never seemed unwieldy, even when we needed to pack ourselves into relatively small spaces. Best of all was our guide, Curt, who is extraordinarily witty and entertaining but never at the expense of being informative.

We had the best time on this tour! Kurt was funny and knowledgeable and gave a really fun tour. It was even better than we expected. The food was excellent and plentiful, too. We'll be recommending the tour to all of our friends.
