Entertaining and Informative

While I am a native New Yorker, there was much learned after having taken this tour. I think a lot has to do with the luck you have with your particular guide. Mine was very pleasant and definitely had more than just a working knowledge of the environment. I thought that the places we were taken were representative of the area and the many changes that seem to be taking place there. I enjoyed the different samples of food and could definitely see myself becoming a patron of some of those establishments. I also liked the walk outside where the guide pointed out some of the pricey stores that are coming into the area. I think this tour is a worthwhile experience for either a native or a tourist. Relating the information about the High Lline to the special section in the Sunday New York Times was a thoughtful touch.

Great Way to Spend a Day

Terrific guide. Made the day interesting and fun. Am from the area but learned a great deal about a part of the city with which I was unfamiliar. Nice way to spend a day - even in the sweat of summer (we went on a 95 degree day). Highly recommended.

The food was great. The guide was great. The information was interesting. We got to be inside, out of the elements for most of the tour. It was well worth the time and money.

We were a group of friends from Long Island who wanted to do something different in NYC. It was even better than we expected. Our guide, Wendy, was so well informed and taught us so much about Chelsea Market and the surrounding area. The tour was very well organized and the food tastings were delicious.

Brochure did not accurately portray the samplings

The guide was informative about the history and culture of the area. She was lively, personable, and kept the tour interesting until the last half hour. We were all hot, tired, and ready to call it a day. She held out the dessert as the incentive for holding us on a dirty, noisy, street corner until she ended her presentation. It would have been much better to walk us back to Chelsea market and finish in a pleasant setting in climate controlled circumstances. My guest and I were not especially impressed with the samplings. The brochure showed pizza and a lovely display of desserts--neither were offered or mentioned in the lecture about where to find these items. Also, the ticket/Internet info stated that we would visit the Fruit Exchange. This establishment was not visited or an explanation given about why not. My guest and I did not like the dessert given to us on a dirty, noisy, street corner.
