tour is good idea with improvements

A 16 person group is too large for what you are trying to do. It is unmanageable. The group overloaded the stores and left little room to negotiate. The table in the Italian store was crowded with 8 people. I would cut the group to 12 max. The store sampling was mediocre- except for the soup and the Italian. The stale cookie and shot glass of chocolate milk was weak, the tablespoon of tea was silly, the gelato was tiny. For what we paid you should get somethin nicer. If I were asked by a friend- I would tell them to walk around and buy a full serving of whatever looked good to them. The last straw, however, was the tea "lady". She hollered at us for touching stuff in the store, for sitting down in the back, for standing in the front of the store, at a gentleman and his well behaved son for sitting down at the entrance to the store, at my daughter for eating something. The tea sample was miniscule. I told Samson he needed to drop that store from the tour. We were so put off by this rude behavior that we quickly left the tour at that point. Why does the tour cater to stores who don't want them?

We had a great tour, the food was wonderful and learned many facts about the vendors and market. I would recommend but not something to do with small children.

Sampson was great so was the tour of the market with the exception of the rude owner of the T salon. However, sticking your head into a restraunt was not my idea of fun for the last part of the event

Kurt was the highlight!

We really enjoyed our guide, Kurt. He provided us with food (lots of food) and good explanations of the area in a very entertaining way. Nothing like going on a food tour with a foody with a great sense of humour. We felt that the tour could have been a bit shorter, or perhaps less time in the Chelsea market and more time exploring the overall area. There was lots of time hanging around eating. The portions are very generous, and we felt absolutely stuffed by the end (although that didn't prevent us from having dinner).

Our tour guide, Kurt, was outstanding. If all your tour guides are this good it would be a pleasure to take any tour. He was very knowledgeable and very interesting to just talk to. I would take any of his tours!!!

This is the second tour I've taken with this company. My tour guide was the same both times and is excellent. Do this early in your trip if you can because you'll want to go back and visit and eat all the yummy places you visited! Happy eating!

Lots of fun

The guide was fantastic. We would have liked a few more sources to get history about the market as my daughter is writing a paper about it. The outside part of the tour was not as good because even though we went into famous restaurants, we went right to the basement.

My wife and I both agree this was a worthwhile tour, and we would recommend it toanyone. Curtis, our tour guide, proved to be both knowledgeable and entertaining. We found the variety of foods to be about right. The quantity of food was enough that we did not bother to have dinner that evening. The tour of the meatpacking district introduced us to several restaurants that we'd like to try during another visit to New York, and the historical information provided a wealth of information on a part of the city that we are not very familiar with.
