Kurt made the tour!

My parents were in town visiting me from Michigan so I arranged for us to take this tour. We took the train in from New Canaan, CT and spent 3 great hours with our tour guide Kurt. Not only was the tour informative, the food samples delicious but Kurt's personality really made the tour memorable! My parents had a great time and especially loved that Kurt took us to his friend's brownstone and they got to see her secret garden. It was a side of New York that you would not expect and not usually get a chance to see. I have recommended this tour to several people already and will continue to do so!

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

I was pleased to see when we arrived for our tour that we had the same tour guide that we had last year when we took the Greenich Village Tour. We had such a good time last year that we knew we would this year as well. We were not wrong. The guide is so enthusiastic and full of information that you can't help but feel the same way. I would never have even known about the Market Place without his tour and my group of 6 was impressed. We ate our way through to the point of ALMOST saying "We can't eat another bite. We found getting to go in the back room of the Fish Market very interesting. The Italian Market made us want to just sit and stay for the day. We also got to go into one of the Brownstone homes in the area and sit and rest in the back garden of the house. This we all found to be fun to get to see one of the houses. I would recommend this tour and the other Cultural Food Tours of the City. Our Tour Guide was Kirt and he does a fantastic job. He gets moving fast but then realizes he is leaving us old ladies behind and waits for us. Norma Tursky Sacramento California

Just Okay

The vast majority of the tour was held inside Chelsea Market, therefore we did not see very much of Chelsea or the Meatpacking District; just the market...which was okay but not awesome. They give you really 3 meals to taster, which was okay but we also sampled salt.... When we did finally walk outside, we did not taste any food, just learned about the area which was cool! I recommend getting to Chelsea Market early in order to look around by yourself at all of the various shops becuase the tour does not cover them all. If you're new to New York, I recommend the Greenwhich Food Tour more....great food, constantly walking the streets, restaurant tips, more culture and background! Good Luck!

A group of us decided to attend this tour based on the reviews. Not only was it tasty, but very informative. We learned information about the area that we would have never learned anywhere else. I would definately take another tour by the same company again as it was well organized and a fun/different activity to do in NYC.

I have not been to NYC in 10 years prior to this trip. I will be back much sooner this time and take additional tours. It was everything I would have wanted and more. The food samples were generous and most enjoyable. Our guide Curt was terrific, very informative and insightful! Thank you.

It was a fair tour

I took the Foods of NY walking tour a couple of years ago, going to Greenwich Village and had Cindy as my tour guide. It was great! To compare the two, while Todd was a good tour guide, Cindy's enthusiasm for the neighborhood shone, while Todd just seemed like this was just a job. He apologized a few times for things, which I would not have even noticed had he not done that. I also prefer the neighborhood of GV more because that tour dealt more with the history of the area, as opposed to the Meatpacking district, which dealt more with the future of the area. Lastly, I did not find the food to be as spectacular in Chelsea as it was in GV. It was not bad, and there were some items that were unusual - never had fresh olives before. The bread from Amy's, while we did not go inside Amy's, was outstanding, and there were a couple of other unique foods. But choc milk is choc milk. Everything we ate on the GV tour was unique. I would recommend the Foods of NY company, but I would not recommend the Chelsea tour unless someone just needed something to do to kill time. I would highly recommend the GV tour. Thanks.

This was the first time I had ever taken part in a food and walking tour of Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District, and I enjoyed it very much. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and I found my group to be friendly as well. I loved sampling all of the foods offered. I even went back to the Market to buy a few things once the tour had officially ended. I intend on taking part in the other food/walking tours offered, such as the Greenwich Village tour.

We are always looking for entertaining and informative tours of NYC. This is by far the best company we have ever toured with. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of Chelsea market & the Meating Packing District. Gave us past, present and future information. He was very passionate in his delivery of information about the village which held our attention. The choice of food establishments allowed us try food and places we would have walked right past prior to the tour. We did both the Chelsea and Greenwhich tour the same day and didn't get overwhelmed. The next day, we visited several of the estalishments we toured the day before( for breakfast, lunch and dinner). Can't wait to visit NYC again so we can use the map & handouts we received. Thanks again for a wonderful family experience (age of our children 20 & 14).

What a wonderful way to visit a great neighborhood in NYC. Our tour guide was the best. He had a great sense of humor, knew the area and was very informative. They were correct in saying "lunch afterwards is not needed" A fantastic day was had by all.
