We did not have high expectations before the tour but we really enjoyed ourselves. I am sure that we will take another one in the future

Awesome Chinatown Tour!

My husband and I took the Chinatown tour, which was fabulous. I was full by the end of our 2nd stop! We had a really nice variety of food, and learned a lot about the restaurants that we went to. I highly recommend this tour. I would love it if the tour company would add a variation of the Chinatown tour that would go to some of the more exotic places in Chinatown. While I really enjoyed the places we stopped in, there are lots of small Chinatown shops that I would be to intimidated to go into on my own (you know, the kind of places that have things like duck legs hanging in the windows!). I would also love to see a food tour that would stop at a bunch of different ethnic places - such as afghan food, ethiopian food, vietnamese food, turkish food, etc. - rather than the fairly "average" places that the majority of the tours go to. Overall, the quality of the tour, and the food on the tour, and the tour guide, was fabulous and we really enjoyed it! We would just like to see more variety of ethnicities in the tour choices, for those of us who would like to try some new things.

Our tour guide REALLY knew his stuff - history, how to get along in Chinese culture, and what dishes to get in which restaurants. It was SO delicious - he took us to dishes that had remarkable depth and complexity. He was friendly, and took excellent care of us. I confess, I didn't have high expectations of walking around a Manhattan neighborhood, but he showed us hidden things and made everything a breeze. Well, everything except NOT eating too much.

I am a New Yorker born and bred. I have always held a fascination for Chinatown, and this tour was a great way to learn and get to know it. I loved that this tour had a little bit of everything: food, walking, culture and the history of the neighborhood. Thank you "Foods of New York" for organizing this tour so thoroughly.

Our guide Bert, was beyond AWESOME...we had so much fun...Bert knew everything about every street, every shop and every restaurant we were taken to....nevermind the fact the guy is just Fun! At first we balked a little at the $65.00 price tag...we walked away saying we got sooooo much bang for our buck its not even funny. We were treated like we were family, laughed, ate, made new friends and had a blast. Bringing everybody we know on one of these tours!

What a great way to spend 3 hours! Our tour guide was Burt, and he was fabulous! Well informed, funny, entertaining and very personable. We were lucky to have him! The food was delicious - we loved all the dim sum we tried. The sauces were delicious! The Peking duck was superb! Really nicely done! We loved the stories Burt told us about the history of Chinatown - and lots of interesting titbits in between! The dessert and tea were very good. This is a fun tour and by the end of it, you will be full and satisfied.

Hot time in Chinatown

Our tour happened during the heat wave so we were glad that we were mostly inside in the air conditioned restaurants! Our guide Burt was great! He was funny, informative, courteous, and kept us in the shade as much as possible when we were outside. I learned a lot about the area and I know we'll be going back. Especially to a "concealed" bar that he showed us. The food was delicious and I can't even begin to pick a favorite from what we ate. This was our third food tour (previous tours were Greenwich Village and Chelsea Market) and I would rate this one possibly the highest of all so far. As luck would have it, we were only five on the tour so it was "cozy" and very nice.
