Chinatown Food and Culture Walking Tour

This is my 3rd food tour with your company and EVERY GUIDE has been fantastic! Their expansive knowledge and love of food is wonderfully matched to their background in the history and lore of each area covered in the city. I have returned to many of the restaurants and other establishment featured in each itinerary and have been thankful that I learned of them through you. Please keep expanding your offerings and I am looking forward to my next tour. By the way, Bert seemed like he had led tours for a decade and I was surprised to learn that this was his first "solo!"

The tour was excellent. Our tour guide, Bert, knew a lot about the area. He even recommended places to shop after the tour was over. We went back to buy tea that we sampled while on the tour. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to taste great food and learn more about Chinatown. I have already recommended this tour to my family and friends!

A really great way to explore Chinatown with some excellent food. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledagble. Would do the tour again.

This was the second tour that we have done with Foods of New York, and we enjoyed it every bit as much. This tour was more food-oriented; it included three sit-down mini-meals, all of which were delicious and interesting. The meals were accompanied by useful explanations of the culinary traditions and the methods of preparation. Our tour guide, Bert, was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to; he welcomed questions and could usually answer them. He also led us through some of the streets and alleys of Chinatown, explaining the history of evolution of the neighborhood. He encouraged us to try some of the local delicacies, but he was kind enough to warn us about the strangeness of some of the flavors and textures -- forewarned was forearmed. The only thing I would have liked added was a recommendation of where to shop for local specialties -- linens, jewelry, gifts, etc. We would certainly recommend this tour, and we will do another tour with this company when we are back in New York City again.

Can't say enough good things about this experience... Tour guide (Bert) was super personable & funny. Told us so many interesting things about the neighborhood & the food. Fantastic food. Definitely wasn't hungry at the end of the day. The peking duck was my favorite part. The pace was perfect. Didn't feel rushed, but also didn't get bored. Group size was nice. Small but not awkwardly small. Felt comfortable around everyone.

Some of us were locals. Some of us were from out of state. ALL really enjoyed this tour. Bert has extensive knowledge of the area and we loved all of his neighborhood vignettes. The food sampling was perfect. Yes, there was lots of food and the variety was impressive - and definitely keep in mind to 'come hungry'. We also greatly appreciated the map hand out and suggestions for future places that might also be yummy and fun. I recommend it enthusiastically.

Raheem, our guide, was knowledgeable and very pleasant. The tastings were all delicious. The portions were satisfying. The selection of the restaurants was decent. Can't wait to do another tour!!!!

This was the best walking tour I've done and much better than Big Onion company. The guide Raheem was superb and had a wonderful light delivery style. We got just the right amount of information, trivia and humour. Quality of food was brilliant and we felt inspired by whole experience. Would most certainly come on another tour. Thank you.

The places we went to were nice, clean and friendly. Our guide was very enthusiastic! Rahsheem needs to stop saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen!" It got annoying. Our group felt there needed to have more of a variety of food. This tour DOES NOT compare to the Greenwich or Meat Market! I don't think I would recommend this one unless there is a change. This was my 5th tour and the experience was OK:(

Our guide Bert was outstanding in his knowledge and his presentation. Very enthusiastic. His description of the foods were so very helpful, as I am not fond of Chinese food. But I tried everything and liked most of it. All the restaurants and stores included in the tour were very nice and the store clerks very helpful. I loved hearing about the history of the area, the gangs, the tunnel, the restaurants. He loves his job and it shows. As my place of employment says, it was an E3 experience! Exceptional Encounter Everytime. Highly recommend this tour and this tour guide.
