A new Yorker all my life . Went with some hesitation thinking I was a know-it-all about Chinatown and Food.
Given to me as a gift ,the tour was a great surprise . Bert was a most personable and knowledgable guide. Restaurant choice and food excellent and varied. Learned numerous tid-bits of trivial and historical information about Chinatown. Enjoyed interacting with many other interesting and friendly members of our tour group.
Highly Recommended.
Five Stars and an egg roll to Bert ! |

The tour was a dream. The food was outstanding and the commentary and historical background compelling. We now feel less intimidated to explore China Town further on our own. We would highly recommend this tour. Bravo! |

Each time we take one of your tours, this was our third, we think "How can another, be as good?" And, each time we are rewarded with another wonderful experience. Our excellent and jovial guide, Raheim (sp?), offered up historical tidbits on this neighborhood's long immigrant past, and on the Chinese-Americans who now call this area "home", as he navigated us through winding streets in search of Chinese delicacies. Raheim's enthusiasm for the area's excellent food was not misplaced. All the establishments we visited offered DELICIOUS fare. The dim sum, Peking duck, roast pork were outstanding! We are already making plans to head back for dinner....our palate was has been thoroughly enthralled! And, Foods of NY? Well done, we will be back for yet another tour soon! |

My husband and I went on this tour on August 22nd ; this was our second time together in NYC and we decided we wanted to experience part of Manhattan using a guided tour .
Turns out this was an excellent decision !
Our tour guide ( sorry , we can't remember his name ) was very knowledgeable and very friendly;he shortly made everyone in our group feel comfortable with each other !!!
He showed us parts of Chinatown we would have NEVER found if exploring on our own; he was entertaining and could answer to any given question of our lively group !!
The "meals" were excellent : two of the restaurants where we got to sit down are listed by the Michelin and Zagat Guides !!! The Pecking Duck was a gorgeous experience , that duck was to die for !! Also those dumplings we tasted at Dim Sun Go Go were delicious !
( The only "course" I did not like that much was the "sweet roll" that we ate as dessert ... but the other people in our group enjoyed it - someone had a double "serving" ).
I would HIGHLY recommend this food tour to everyone - even NY citizens !! and we would do this tour again in a heartbeat !!! |

Having been to Chinatown before, it was wonderful to finally understand some of the history of both the place itself and its culinary delights. Our guide Raheem was knowledgeable and personable. Our diverse and friendly group made the tour even more enjoyable. My husband and I have been on 3 other tours with this company and have never had a bad experience. |

This is the 2nd time I have taken the Chinatown tour and it was even better than the first. From what I understand, Raheem is the only tour guide employed by Foods of New York that conducts their Chinatown tour and I have to say that they certainly hit the nail on the head in choosing the right person. Having an in depth knowledge of the subject matter you are presenting will only make you a "good" tour guide. Being able to bring the topics to life for the tour group makes you great. And then...just sometimes...you will find a tour guide who will not only do these things for their audience, but they also have the ability to cultivate what feels like a life long friendship over the course of just a few hours. Raheem is one of these truly outstanding tour guides that you really don't find but once in a blue moon. From his impeccable knowledge of all things Chinatown, to his vibrance and zeal for what he is talking about, to the personal and very human side of himself that he shares, Raheem has you laughing and wishing that the 3 hour tour would go all day long just so that you could keep hearing him speak.
If that isn't enough...the food on the tour is just to die for. By the end of the 3 hours, you'll feel like you shouldn't be eating anything for the next 2 days since you're so full...but you'll still have to convince yourself not to go back for seconds at all of the places you had a food tasting because everything was just THAT GOOD!
Whether you are in NYC for the first time or if you grew up here, this tour is not one to miss!! |

I was pleasantly surprised that we would be sitting down in restaurants for the tastings, and not just a bite on the streets. Helpful if it's pouring out. There is some walking of course, but plenty of time in doors. Bert was a great guide and was very knowledgeable. I haven't been to Chinatown in years, but will be back soon, now that I know where to go. |
