Chinatown Food and Culture Walking Tour

I enjoyed the tour. Great balance of interesting and educational talking points, coupled with some delicious Chinese food! As a local who has considered himself an experienced Chinatown vet, I still learned a lot of things I hadn't known. The guide was well-versed in what he was talking about and seemed to really enjoy his job. I would recommend this tour.

As a new yorker, I am always looking for fun and different things to do when people come into town, rather than the typical "tourist" stuff. This tour met that need and then some! Our leader was great, the history of the area was awesome, especially since I live near by, and the food was delicious. Definitely worth every penny and the time.

Amazing food, pasionate tour guide, good times!! Highly recommended to anyone looking to delve beneath the surface of Chinatown (especially those who think it's just Canal Street!) and discover much more about it's history, culture, and cuisine (trust us on the Peking duck!)

WE HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF CHINESE FOODS FROM DIM SUM TO PEKING DUCK AND PLACES TO RE-VISIT. OUR GROUP OF FOUR RETIRED TEACHERS RAVED ABOUT OUR DAY TRIP. The China town tour took us places a New Yorker may not ever have seen on their own. We were given a historical background and even pictures of what the sites looked like long ago. We had a feel of how the neighborhood changed as we walked through small winding streets and came upon different venues. The restaurants on our tour gave us a taste of the best and most authentic for Dim Sum, Peking Duck and Cantonese food. The tour guide (Rajiid?) gave us detailed descriptions of the food and preparation of everything we ate. The service was great, everything was ready for us and we had a quiet private area in each of our places. We also visited a Health/herbal and tea place stocked up with exotic and some very expensive delicacies. There you can also get some homeopathic remedies. Some of us enjoyed the fruity bubbly teas. The tour was most enjoyable and a great experience as the tour guide was so entertaining with his many stories and the fellow participants were so friendly. We highly recommend this tour and we are planning some other ones very soon.

I have done every tour you offer, and LOVE them. they are always one of the highlights of my trips to NY. The guide, Raheem, is so knowledgeable and has such passion for the food. I have all my guides from all the tours, and treat them as my food bibles whenever in NY and deciding what to eat!

The tour was just great. Our tour guide was very interesting, with a very relaxed manner, which made everyone relaxed. The restaurants were terrific. It was a nice group,and I think we all had a good time I highly recommend this tour

Raheem was knowledgeable and enthusiastic; and cared for his customers. The food was exquisite! He found the best of the best to show us. Unfortunately he was unable to provide us with a paper guide to what we saw and ate. I would like very much to have one as we live in NY and would definitely return to the restaurants. Could Raheem please email us an attachment with the restaurant names and addresses?

My friends and I returned for the second year in a row to do another food tour of NY. The Chinatown Food tour was absolutely delicious and provided us with a lot of knowledge about the culture and history of that part of Manhattan. We learned a lot about the traditions and styles of the various foods, how they are prepared and how they should be eaten. Our Tour guide was kind and courteous as well as funny and personable in which he made everyone feel included and involved on this tour. One of our favorite things about these tours is that they give us a taste (no pun intended) of a variety of different styles, restaurants, and shops as well as provide us with honest opinions all within walking distance of each other. For those of us who are from out of town, it makes the dining experience less daunting in such a massive city with restaurants galore!! In fact we kept the booklet we received on our tour last year that listed many of the restaurants they suggested and made reservations to eat there on our first night back. We highly recomend these tours!! Oh.....and if you're a finicky eater and are concerned that the Chinatown food tour is too exotic for your taste buds, don't worry! The food isn't so far out there that you question where it is coming from! Your guides will explain in depth all the ingredients and how most of the food is prepared and shows up on your plate! If you don't like....just pass. No matter what, there will be SOMETHING that you will like. However, I'd be shocked if you didn't like EVERYTHING!!
