Great food tour of Chinatown

Although it was hot outside, our tour guide Bert kept us cool! We were a group of New Yorkers who wanted to get a good feel for some Chinatown restaurants... The ones the tour picked were spot on.... We know the basics of Chinese food, but Bert stepped it up a notch for us and introduced us to some great places to eat with great recommendations for food to order. History of the area as well as some streets that were "hidden" and didn't know about, made us New Yorkers who thought we knew it all, didn't really, and we learned a few things along the way! Highly enjoyable and think it would be worth it for anyone to try! Great job, Bert! Thanks....

Bert, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and answered our group's off the wall questions with ease! The stops for tastings were well-planned out and we had a great experience in ChinaTown. Our group consisted of teens (16+), 45+ and 65+.....EVERYONE had a blast. We will definitely book another tour in the fall.

Our guide was Raheem and he was both entertaining and informative. I would go on any tour he was leading. The food was very different from Chinese food I had tasted in the past and much, much better. Even though the weather could have been more cooperative, we all had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I look forward to returning to the restaurants we visited with him.

Comprehensive, in-depth food tour of Chinatown

Interesting, in-depth tour of Chinatown with great food: 5 different types of dim sum; pekin duck; Cantonese eggplant and fried rice. We were stuffed by the end. Enjoyed the antidotal stories about Chinatown. Liked our tour guide: quirky (which we like) with a nice sense of humor. Two points for improvement. The tour seemed a little rushed (wish we could have slowed down) and the tour guide could have dressed a little less casual (like no flip flops). Otherwise, a great tour. And appreciated the allergy accommodations.

This was my 2nd tour with this company. I had such a great time on one of the Greenwich Village tours, That I wanted to do another one. I was not disappointed. Our tour guide, Bert (AKA Eric) struck just the right note: Funny, knowledgeable, relaxed, but not too relaxed. I loved the combo of info about the food and the history of the neighborhood we were in. Most of the folks in my group were return customers, and many were native New Yorkers. I think that says it all.

Fun Afternoon

Our tour guide, Bert, is the reason my friend and I had so much fun on this tour. He was a wonderful host. There are not as many stops on this particular tour, but there is a lot of food. My 2 favorites were the dim sum and the Peking duck stops. The rice and eggplant were ok, but not the best and the tea stop was just not good at all, but then I don't like sweetened tea and this tea was sweetened. My friend liked the tea stop, so it's just a matter of sweet vs. nonsweet tea. The shopping stop was ok if you're into tea pots, cups and herbs, otherwise it was a waste of time. The cat was nice though. I had fun and did learn a lot of the history of Chinatown which I had never learned before. This was my 5th Foods of New York tour and while it's not the first tour I would recommend to my friends, I'm glad I went on it.

several foods just weren't that good.

Our tour guide Bert was wonderful and very informative. The food just wasn't all that good. I don't think it was his fault. There were leftovers after most stops. The dim sum was the best. I felt it went down hill after that. But Bert was truly great!! He gave us a lot of information. Just did not care for the food. We have been on several tours, but this one was not that great with the food. I was hoping for more.
