Bert gave a wonderful tour with lots of info about the food we were eating, the history of the area and lots of tidbits about other places to check out in the area. I'm looking forward to going back to Chinatown to try some more of the great suggestions.

I really enjoyed the tour! Loved, getting to try all the different foods. My favorite was the Peking duck & dim sum. I had to leave a little early so did not get to try the custard, which was okay as I can not have milk products. Our guide, Bert, did a wonderful job of answering question and giving us the history of the area. I would highly recommend this tour and our wonderful guide Bert!!!!

My sister & I took the tour as part of our vacation to NYC. Burt/Bert (sp) was our guide and he was AWESOME! He took such great care of everyone, made sure our every need was taken care of; he told us great stories, kept the tour moving, it never got boring, the food was fantastic, and we LOVED the egg custard at the end. We also met the lovliest people in our group; the weather was perfect and all in all it was a great time and great memory. For me the only bad thing was seeing the ducks head hanging off the platter LOL but other than that I would HIGHLY recommend the tour to anyone I know going to NYC. Thank you so much! Rajhim - not sure of spelling - (the guide) loves this topic (Chinese - history and food), made everyone enthusiastic about it, and gave us great background/historical information about the food and places/activities in the area. The food was high-quality, wonderfully tasty, and not the common Chinese dishes and condiments. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

Fun, good, but not covering enough of Chinatown

Bert is a great tour guide. He supplied lots of fun, interesting knowledge about the blocks we covered (I loved the park we went to with all the people hanging out, playing table games, enjoying music, etc). Living in the city for 15 years, Chinatown is one of my favorite neighborhoods to explore. Therefore, knowing the expansiveness of the area, it was disappointing to me to that we remained basically in a 4-5 square block radius. I had been looking forward to seeing and learning about sites I may not have known before (like the interesting areas east of Bowery or the great restaurants/shops north of Canal towards Hester & Grand). The restaurant choices were overall good; the dumplings on 1st stop were GREAT, peking duck was good (I've had better), and the cantonese place was kind-of 'regular'. I think if I was unfamiliar with Chinatown, I would have been more impressed. However, I would still recommend this tour to anyone-- local or visiting. And again, Bert was a great, knowledgeable guide... thanks. :)

It was a first time food tour for me and I enjoyed it very much. The food was excellent as well as the tour and the tour guide. I can only but recommend this tour. Should I have the chance to come back to NYC, I will for sure take one of the other tours offered by Foods of New York.

Bert, our tour guide did a fantastic job describing Chinatown sites and was very informative about the restaurants and the food being served. This tour was well worth the money and we would highly recommend it.

This tour was great! There was plenty to eat and everything was delicious. The tour guide was excellent and it was a good mix of food and culture. I thought it was good value for money as a four course lunch in New York is unlikely to cost you much less than the cost of the tour.

Very informative about Chinatown. Visited many interesting places to go back and shop. Above all the most exciting part of the tour is the food which is a very tasty meals. You must go very hungry because samples are real meals. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Raheem (think I've spelled correctly) made this tour a delight. Of course, he had three fantastic first-rate restaurants to help him, as well as a batch of warm custard tarts for dessert from a Chinese bakery! But, he was a passionate advocate for the cuisines of China and a champion of their culture and their NYC community. What made the tour even more vital, was the fact that Raheem comes from a Muslim background and so was able to inject a true multicultural spirit into our walk and our dining. Both the tour and the guide should be considered local treasures. I recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese food, and BTW the Peking Duck was superlative, and I come from Vancouver, Canada, where good Mandarin chefs litter our Asian dining scene. Bravo!
