Excellent introduction to the neighborhood.

My husband and I enjoyed this tour a lot. (But not as much as the Central Village/SOHO tour by the same company and tour guide.) This tour was a great way to learn about and experience the neighborhood for outsiders like ourselves. I was a little apprehensive about the things we would taste on the tour because I knew traditional Chinese food involves some ingredients that are a bit more exotic than I'm normally willing to try. For instance, I can't bring myself to try eel, squid, or octopus. But that was not an issue at all. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all of the dishes. So much so that I had confidence that I would enjoy everything he had selected for us to sample. The food that we sampled was mostly new to me, but I enjoyed it all. I was pushed just enough out of my comfort zone that I felt like I got an authentic experience, without being grossed out.

I went on this tour last week (early May) with my boyfriend, and we had a wonderful time. The dim sum was our favorite part, and we had some extra time at the end of the tour to visit some of the other recommended restaurants. I highly recommend these tours. It was nice to keep the group size small (less than 20), and the guide was dynamic and interesting. Great sense of humor & very knowledgeable!

Our tour with Raheem was one of the highlights of our trip. This was our fourth tour with this company, and I think they are best food tour ever. We learned so much about the Chinatown history and area in addtion to tasting some really delicious food. We loved the Peking Duck and the Tiger Roll. Highly recommended.

This is the third of these walks i have done and every time i have come away knowing something new and full! The chinatown was different as you sit down at restaurants and there is a little less of the culture/architecture - but it is all about the food and that surpassed - especially the peking duck, and the dumplings...

Raheem was excellent. A thorough job of covering history of the area. The best tour I have taken in a long time. I have traveled to China many times, and this tour was amazing to tie old and new country together. Very talented tour guide. Was able to adjust as needed when restaurants weren't ready or crowds were a problem, with sensititvity to the locals as well as awareness of his group.

Another fantastic Foods of New York tour.

This is my 4th tour with Food of NY - I think they are a fantastic way to experience the different neighbourhoods away from the "usual" tourist scene. Rahim was excellent (and Bert too!), and the food tastings were great. My 16 year old cousin had a fantastic time with the group so it can be a suitable outing for teenagers as well. We ended up going back to one of the restaurants with the rest of our group a couple of days later - excellent ideas for places to eat.

7th Foods of NY tour... can't wait for the next

AS it says above, this was my 7th Foods of NY tour... the first for the Chinatown tour. It did not disappoint at all. It is different from the others in that there is less history and more food time, and the food for the most part is sit-down and service... it was explained, and makes sense, that this is what is the best for this part of NY. The food was fabulous from start to finish, and quite a lot. And again, it had us trying restaurants that we most probably would not have done on our own. There is history and explanation of the area, and that was informative and very interesting. We had Rajim as our tour guide, and he has a wonderful way to give the background and facts while always being entertaining and easy to follow. We highly recommend this tour, as well as all of the Foods of NY tours...
