This is my 4th tour with Food of NY - I think they are a fantastic way to experience the different neighbourhoods away from the "usual" tourist scene.
Rahim was excellent (and Bert too!), and the food tastings were great. My 16 year old cousin had a fantastic time with the group so it can be a suitable outing for teenagers as well.
We ended up going back to one of the restaurants with the rest of our group a couple of days later - excellent ideas for places to eat. |

AS it says above, this was my 7th Foods of NY tour... the first for the Chinatown tour. It did not disappoint at all.
It is different from the others in that there is less history and more food time, and the food for the most part is sit-down and service... it was explained, and makes sense, that this is what is the best for this part of NY.
The food was fabulous from start to finish, and quite a lot. And again, it had us trying restaurants that we most probably would not have done on our own.
There is history and explanation of the area, and that was informative and very interesting.
We had Rajim as our tour guide, and he has a wonderful way to give the background and facts while always being entertaining and easy to follow.
We highly recommend this tour, as well as all of the Foods of NY tours... |

My mother and I recently took a weeklong trip to Manhattan. The Chinatown Food and Culture Tour was, most certainly, a highlight, if not THE highlight, of both of our experiences. Rahim, our tour guide, was amazing. He was personable and knowledgeable; he made sure he talked individually to every member of our tour group, and he was a veritable wealth of information about the area. Then there was the food! Absolutely delicious - everything was fantastic! It was a wonderful experience, trying new foods from authentic Chinatown restaurants. The peking duck in particular was phenomenal. If you have the chance to take this tour, I highly recommend it. It's an amazing experience! |

I brought a friend who is nineteen years old on this tour. It was her first trip into New York, she was visiting from Copenhagen. I set up a day trip that began with this food tour of Chinatown. I had been on another one of these food tours so I knew she would enjoy it. This Chinatown tour was slightly more expensive than the previous food tour I did of Greenwich Village but we received more food with this tour. Both of us enjoyed it tremendously. This is a wonderful way to see parts of New York. Thank you for a great job! |

The 3 hours passed quite quickly, with plenty of information on Chinatown and the cuisine being doled out in addition to the great food samples. Loved the Peking Duck - it was the highlight of the tour. Our guide was very knowledgable and friendly. He stayed aware of the group and handled any unexpected situations (a few small wrinkles in the itinerary) well. Overall, a great experience. |

We greatly enjoyed this tour and how well our guide understood the area and its history. He was also enthusiastic and passionate about his subject, and obviously had built a good rapport with the vendors we visited. While the foods we tasted were not our favorite - our tastes have been throughly Americanized - it was all high quality and all establishments were clean and well kept. This was our third food tour in New York and each has been well worth the time and money. |

Our tour was relaxing and very informative about the Chinese food and culture. I did not know what Peking Duck was and what a treat it was to taste it. We would do it again.
Thanks |

I recently visted NYC with my 79 yr old mother and 24 yr old daughter and thoroughly enjoyed the Chinatown Food and Culture Walking Tour. Our guide, Raheem, was extremely knowledgeable of this unique neighborhood, its rich history, and its wonderful food. He made a good tour GREAT with his enthusiasm, humor, and friendly manner. This was my second NYC food and culture tour, (my first was the Chesea Market Tour) but my mother and daughter had never experienced one before. The food was delectable and the teas delicious. The Peking Duck was the best I have ever eaten! Choosing an outing for three generations of women can be daunting, but the Chinatown Food and Culture Tour was truly a treasure! |
