I learned so much more than I would have on my own. The tour guide was fabulous, and the food we sampled was really the best of the best.

SOHO TRENDY AND TASTY

SO THIS IS THE SECOND TOUR WE HAVE TAKEN, THE FIRST ONE BEING THE GREENWICH VILLAGE TOURS. OUR GUIDE WAS DIANA AS IN BANANA (HER WORDS). SHE WAS PLEASANT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE AND MADE AN EFFORT AFTER THE TOUR TO GET EVERYBODY WHERE THEY NEED TO GO AND ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS. THE TOUR STARTED OFF STRONG AT THE INDIAN BREAD COMPANY AND THE TASTING WAS OUTSTANDING. NEXT ONTO MONTES FOR RAVIOLI AND AGAIN OUTSTANDING. THE 3RD TASTING (I FORGET THE NAME) WAS SOMETHING I WOULD HAVE NEVER TRIED ON MY OWN, BUT A VERY GOOD SWEET TREAT. THERE WAS A NICE BREAK BETWEEN TASTING # 3 AND 4 WHICH WAS GREAT AS WE WERE GETTING STUFFED AND NEEDED TO DIGEST. THE BIG LET DOWN WAS THE TASTING AT PEANUT BUTTER & CO. WE HAD A THINLY SLICED CHICKEN WITH A SPICY PEANUT BUTTER AND A PINAPPLE CHUTNEY SERVED ON WHEAT BREAD. NOT ENOUGH PEANUT BUTTER WAS ON THE CHICKEN TO REALLY SAMPLE THE PB AND THE WHOLE THING WOULD HAVE TASTED BETTER IT WS SERVED IN A WRAP RATHER THAN THE WHEAT BREAD. ALSO, I HAVE SEEN PEANUT BUTTER & CO PRODUCTS IN WALMART SO IT KIND OF TAKES AWAY FROM THE "LOCAL" FLAVOR OF THE SOHO TOUR EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THAT THE PRODUCT ORIGINATED IN SOHO. A COUPLE OF THE ITALIAN TASTINGS LIKED SMOKED MOZZARELLA AND SAUSAGE TASTING WERE OKAY BUT NOT A SLAM DUNK IN MY MIND. MANY OF THE GROCERIA OFFERINGS, WE HAVE IN THE ITALIAN ISLE OF MARKET BASKET GROCERY STORE IN OUR AREA. THE LAST TASTING AT GRANDDAISY WAS LOVELY. OVERALL THE CULTURE PORTION OF THE TOUR WAS NICE, I WILL ALWAYS MARVEL AT REAL ESTATE PRICES IN NY. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO MAKE A CHOICE BETWEEN THE GREENWICH VILLAGE TOUR AND SOHO TOUR, I WOULD CHOOSE GREENWICH. IN MY OPINION EVERY TASTING ON THE GREENWICH TOUR WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD AND ALTHOUGH WE WERE FILLED UP ON THE SOHO TOUR, I THINK THE PORTIONS ON THE GREENWICH TOUR WERE A BIT HEARTIER. I JUST LIKE THE VIBE BETTER IN GREENWICH VILLAGE. THAT BEING SAID, I AM SO HAPPY WE WENT ON THE TOUR AND LEARNED IN DEPTH ABOUT ANOTHER GREAT AREA OF NY. MY ONLY OTHER SUGGESTION WOULD BE THAT A 2 HOUR TOURS VS 3 HOUR TOURS WOULD BE DESIRABLE. DIANA THANKS FOR A LOVELY AFTERNOON AND UNCLE BILL GAVE US FREE BAGELS.

went on this tour with a girlfriend as a B-day gift. Raheem (sp) was our tour guide and he was great. Very energetic and even funny at times. He shared a lot of interesting facts. Overall, the tour was very informative and the food was great. A lot to learn, even for the "locals". I would recommend this tour to anyone, especially if you have a palate for ethnic food/flavor.

It was great. I'm technically a local because I've lived in the city for 1 1/2 years. But originally hailing from Florida, I didn't know some of the information or most of the restaurants. So, it was a great experience for me! I went with friends who live here and friends from out of town. We all had a great time. The food was amazing!! I tried things that I would never had tried on my own, but in the situtation was more than willing to try! My only suggestion is an alcohol option. Extra $15 or so dollars to get drinks at a few of the locations. My group and I said we would definitely do that! I've already suggested this to other friends! :)

fun but not as entertaining as past tours

I have done foods of NY tours in the past and have really loved them. They were the highlight of our trip! This one was not as entertaining, unfortunately. I felt like the tour guide was not as entertaining as my past guides. I felt like she was limited in what she had to say about the culture aspect and then she kept highlighting these "fantastic" places that we didn't go in to. Her reviews of restaurants in the area didn't vary at all so it was hard to know which ones really were good. For a tour of 3 hours in length, you really need it to be fun and informative. I felt like it was a little lacking in both of these aspects.

Fun and Educational!

Our tour guide, an extremely knowledgable woman who had spent many years in the city, brought us back to the time when Bob Dylan, Jimmie Hendrix, and Bruce Springstein were trying to make it in the local clubs and bars around Bleeker Street. We were introduced to a variety of delicious ethnic foods and enjoyed a walk through Washington Square Park filled with brilliant flowering trees. Crossing over Houston to SoHo was the perfect finishing touch to learining about this delightful area of unique shops and restaurants. We can't wait to sign up for another tour!

Fantabulous Tour!

We had never been on a walking tour before and so were both a little anxious... but what a treat was in store. Our guide, Diana, was full of information about the history and culture of Greenwich and SoHo. She was a great story teller - lots of interesting detail and plenty of enthusiasm and passion for NYC. We particularly appreciated her impersonations of characters as she delivered dialogues when we paused at street scenes / buildings used as sets in great movies. As visitors from the UK we were particular pleased to be in a party of women from the USA and had informal conversations with them over the food tastings when they offered valuable recommendations of what else to see / where else to go. We are looking forward to our next trip to NYC and will certainly book up for another walking tour then. Cannot recommend highly enough. Lynn & Shirley.
