Wonderful tour guide - he tried to keep us as entertained and dry as possible. Our group loved the food, the history of the area, and the whole tour. We'll be back!

Our guide, Diana, was really wonderful. She was lively, informative and made the entire tour so much fun. Her knowledge of the area of of the restaurants, shops and food was spot on. I've already recommended this tour to my friends on their next visit to NY-- Robin Asbury, Charleston, SC

I suppose there's worse ways to spend a few hours, but this was advertised as a food tour so I reasonably was thinking the emphasis would be on food. It was more of a neighborhood tour, with a lot of not terribly interesting facts and stories about the west village. Along the way we stopped by several restaurants, but only in two were we able to actually sit down, the rest had us herded into tiny places or worse yet left to eat on the street, constantly trying not to block pedestrians while we ate the samples of food. The whole thing was a bit uncouth. The food itself was OK, nothing really stood out except the dessert tarts. The tour guide was fine, it wasn't boring because of him, it was more the material. Again maybe if you're visiting NY you would enjoy this, but I found the whole thing to be rather a yawn, and an expensive one at that.

worthwhile New York City experience

Friend and I enjoyed the Central Village/SoHo tour. The three hours went by quickly. Our guide was entertaining and offered interesting stories about the neighborhoods. It is also a plus that he has patronized many of the establishments we visited. Food was varied with Indian, Middle Eastern, Italian, Cuban and French all represented. Everyone stated that they were well fed and enjoyed the various tastings which were served in adequate portions. Several people on our tour had taken other tours, such as the Greenwich Village one. They commented that our food was more ethnically diverse and we went inside more places rather than just standing outside on the sidewalk. Only criticism is that at times the advertising for some of the restaurants we visited was a bit too much. Curiously, one of the places the guide most recommended that we make reservations for was not among those offering even a tasting of its menu. Nonetheless, this is certainly a recommended NYCity activity.

First we were warmly greeted by our tour guide. We started on time and had a leisurely walk as he described the history of the area we were touring that day. I'm a native New Yorker, but have never explored Downtown. I couldn't believe all that I was missing! All the restaurants, stores and clubs that we visited were terrific, as was the food that we sampled from each. I thought that the samples were going to be small, but each sample was a good sized portion. If there were any leftovers, we were offered to take more. By the time the tour was over, I was stuffed and there was no need for dinner. One person in our group was a vegeterian, and accomadations were made at the stops that were meat related, which was very nice. We walked through and learned the history behind Washington Square Park, which was very interesting. I've seen pictures, but have never been there. Our tour guide was very outgoing, funny, personable and knowledgable. If I did another tour, I would definitely want him. My friends and I had a terrific time and can't want to come back to shop, eat and explore some more! Thanks!

This was a great tour - it was mostly Greenwich Village with a little bit of Soho at the end. The guide was very knowledgeable and the food was excellent.

Thought it was weak on really exploring the food of the Central Village (only two stops in SoHo). The leader was charming and reasonably well informed, but for us who are not real big music enthusiasts there was much too much discussion of musicians and music venues, more on the literary and visual arts would have been somewhat more satisfying for us. We enjoyed the food samplings, but thought there was a bit too much advertising for those restaurants. I would recommend this tour with reservations. It was strongly recommended to us by friends.

Fun, well-paced, and good tastes

The variety of tastes was excellent, and the order starting from appetizers to entree to desert was well-done. The guide's narrative about the Central Village was informative. I wish that when we were in the shops/restaurants where an owner or manager was present that the guide would let the owner/manager speak more. The guide gave a "commercial" for the establishment, which is OK, but I would have preferred to have heard directly from the owner/manager. This especially applies to Bellavitae. All in all it was a sucess and we will be back for more.
