Great tour!

This was our second food tour in NYC - although the weather wasn't great (raining), we had a great time. The food samples were tasty and the tour guide was humorous and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour if you are looking for an informative tour of the central village/SOHO area with the bonus of some tasty treats along the way.

Entertaining afternoon for locals & tourists

Pros: Short time commitment; variety of foods; light to moderate level of walking; educational history of architecture, music, parks, restaurants & shops; water, literature with map, and rest/restroom breaks were provided. Host had great knowlege of the area & history. Cons: Unpredictable weather - the forecast predicted overcast & NO rain but it rained from the time the tour began until almost the end. Host was unprepared but since she was going by the forecast she was just as surprised as the rest of us; however, she recovered by finding a store that sold cheap umbrellas. The food samples were appropriate & varied but the combination was a little heavy. Vegetarians were accomodated with alternatives. Would have been nice to have an extra 5 or 10 minutes at some of the shops to purchase non-perishable carry-away items. Would recommend to friends/family and would attend another/different tour.

My 15-year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed Susan's tour of Central Greenwich Vilage and a small "slice" of Soho Tour. We had taken a food tour of the Lower East Side last summer and had to share very small portions with other members of the group. We were very pleasantly surprised to have very generous size portions of our sample foods on this tour. And, since it was a very warm day, it was nice to sit down in a few of the air conditioned restaurants. I especially liked the cultural and architectural aspects of the tour - Bob Dylan's residences and haunts, Club Wha?, Washington Square Park, etc. I think it would have been interesting to mention some of the Village's famous past and current residents and to include even more mentions of movie locations shot in the Village. The food choices were all very good - a little heavy on the Italian selections - but my daughter loves Italian, so that worked out. We stopped at Peanut Butter and Co. after the tour and thought it would have been a "fun" spot to include. My only complaint would be that at a few of the resturants we felt a bit pressured to return - business cards were passed out -- the stops felt more like advertisements for the establishments rather than simply a food tour stop. We did like the neighborhood guide handout - handy to have for our next visit to the Village and we will be back! Foods of New York Tours - how about a East Village or Lower East Side Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour?

This was a great way to get to know the neighourhood and get tips on places to eat. We ended up going back to one of the restaurants on our tour for dinner the next day and were not disappointed. We were surprised how generous the food portions were. Definitely go on this tour hungry. The food was terrific and the restaurant owners/staff were friendly and welcoming. We're looking forward to booking another tour the next time we come to New York. Thanks for a great experience.

I went on this last month with my sister and niece from Mobile AL and we loved it so much I told my friends we needed to do it again. They had not been and it gave me such a fantastic feel for Greenwich Village I wanted to share the experience. The food was wonderful and a nice eclectic mix. Best of all was Susan V, our guide. She is a New Yorker and was irreplaceable in putting meat on the bones of this tour. She is smart, engaging, welcoming and FUN. I will do this company's food tours every time I visit NYC. Don't miss it. By the way, you get terrific bang for your buck. Thanks, Susan. It was a blast! Cheryl Hutchison

This was our second tour. Our first tour (last year) was of the Chelsea Market and Meatpacking District. This was every bit as wonderful. I learned a tremendous amount about the Village...names and places that I've heard of for years..got to see and learn the history....the food tasting was amazing too!!!!

Susan our guide was very open and friendly. Restaurants chosen were fantastic. Loved when we were able to meet the owners...adds that personal touch. Would recommend that a person from the estanblishment tell a little about the restuarant when possible. Thank you.

Food & Culture Tour a Highlight of our Vacation
Thu, Sep 17, 09   12:00 PM Chernicky Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Our Central Village & SOHO food & culture tour was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC. Our guide, Raheem, was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and charming. He had such great personal stories to tell about his experiences in the neighborhoods we visited. It was obvious that Raheem had a real connection to the area and that he loved his job. And we just loved learning about the Village and SOHO and sampling the food. I have told everyone here at home what a great experience this tour was and have told them that they must take one or more of these tours if they ever visit NYC.

Excellent way to experience SOHO!

We ate our way through SOHO learning about the history and interesting facts about the culture. There were foods that I had never tasted before, nor would I have have had the chance to try them if it weren't for the food tour! We felt like we were on a browse about the city rather than a "tour", stopping at quirky bistros and cafes on our way. The food was amazing, even for a finicky eater like me! A definite must do for your bucket list! Just don't eat lunch before you go, you will get lots of food! Our guide was charming and informed, we wanted to take her away with us for the rest of our trip in NYC! Great value for the amount of food and a pleasant afternoon!
