Couple on a Date |
| This is the second time we did a tour with Foods of New York. The first one was just Greenwich Village. This one was just as enjoyable and informative as the first one. An excellent way to spend the day meandering through Greenwich Village and Soho. The description is correct when it say don't eat lunch. You definitely will get your fill while on this tour. Todd was our guide and he was fantastic. Knowledgeable, entertaining and informative. You could not have asked for a better guide than Todd. If you are thinking about taking this tour don't second guess yourself, just do it. You won't be disappointed |

| Had a fine time on the tour and saw parts of Greenwich Village and SoHo I didn't know existed, even though I visit NYC a couple of times each year. Todd and Barry are good tour guides and included a lot of historical info about the area that went far beyond food facts. I was especially pleased that there was no overlap between this tour of the Central Village and FoNY's separate tour of the West Village. |

We were in a party of seven on our guide Barri’s (sorry if spelling’s wrong?) first solo tour of this district and we enjoyed every minute of it!
The food samples were varied, tasty and often had a story behind them that made us realise how unique they were, whilst Barri’s enthusiasm for the area, its people and its history was truly infectious. As she pointed out before we parted, we came away knowing things about Greenwich and Soho that most New Yorker’s themselves probably don’t know, so it was indeed a privilege to have had the opportunity.
If we’d had more than just six days in this great city we’d have certainly booked onto the other food and culture tours too! C&A, England, October 2006. |

| The tour was given by enthusastic members of the community. It was well organized and the food was ready when we arrived. The bottle of water came in handy. They went to great lengt to accomodate special requests.
It was nice to hear that the food is actually paid for.
The historical remarks were nice as well and delivered the background to the district. |

| Central Village/SoHo tour was great in its own right, and I would have rated it as "Enthusiastically Recommended" had I not been on the original Greenwich Village food tour given by Foods of New York.
The Greenwich Village tour seemed to focus on how to enjoy the Village as a tourist, keying in on restaurants and bars that one could enjoy. The mix of tastings and culture notes was perfect.
The Central Village tour seemed to focus more on venues to enjoy if you lived in the area. The fresh pasta shop, the bakery, and the fresh mozzerella shop were fantastic tasting stops, but as a tourist, they did not prove as useful to me as the venues highlighted on the Greenwich Village tour. The culture notes on the Central Village tour, though very interesting, were not balanced with the tastings. The time spent in Washington Square Park seemed very long and made the tour feel a bit disjointed.
All these points must be balanced by the fact that I went on this new tour when it was in its very early days--the tour guides indicated at the outset that they were still working the 'kinks' out of the programme.
I can't stress enough that despite my recomendations for improvement, I still found this tour to be excellent, and will recommend it to friends and family, as I have already done in respect of the Greenwich Village tour. I look forward to doing the Meatpacking District tour on my next visit to NYC! |

| This tour is not just for people who love their food from all over the world, though it does make it easier to find restaurants you might want to come back to later. The snacks are not too big and you get enough time to recover walking it off in between. Anyone with an open mind and interest in the area will love what they hear from the well-prepared guide(s). It was obvious that these two -- we took the tour in its try-out phase -- knew much more than they were telling us; and they told us a whole lot!
If you have any specific questions, you can feel free to ask them; these people know their stuff!
Concluding, this is a tremendously interesting tour and a great way to find out lots of things about the village; its little traditional shops, bars and restaurants and its interesting histrory.

| I highly recommend this tour. Not only did I learn about great food finds in SOHO and Greenwich, but our guides told us about the history of the area, explained the architecture, and told us where to find great comedy, music, and plays. My only regret is I wish I would have taken the tour on my first day of my trip so I could have taken more advantage of their insights of where to go and what to do while in NYC.
Thank you so much for the excellent tour. I had very high expectations and you exceeded them.
