What A Great Introduction To Greenwich & SoHo

As frequent visitors on short trips to NYC we can't believe we haven't tried this tour before. Although we have touched on these areas in broader past tours, we could have wandered on our own for days without finding all of the wonderful little gems that Barri introduced us to. All of the snacks were fabulous and unusual and she gave us dozens of tips and insights (shopping, comedy clubs, live music and theatre) for future trips to the area to make our time spent there so much more enjoyable. We immediately retraced our steps after the tour to visit some stops not on the tour that she gave us info about . We are already planning a day or two worth of activities in the area to investigate further on our next NYC adventure and our husbands will be wanting to take this tour too . Thank goodness for the informative handout Barri gave us, it's already filled with margin notes from her expertise. Can't wait to try the other food tours. This was a great activity for 2 friends, but would have been enjoyable as a solo or family too...even without perfect weather, we had a great group that was just the right size to enjoy our well paced tour together. Thanks Barri! L&T-Ontario,Canada

Had a fantastc time on our trip of Soho and Greenwich Village. Tastings were great and the information on the local restaurants very useful. We particularly enjoyed the historical aspect of the tour which was a pleasant surprise.

We were a group of 5 friends. 3 having been to NY & 2 not. Your tour proved to be a highlight of our 5 day stay. It gave us an excellent feel for the area & returned one evening to enjoy dinner at Monty's, visit the Comedy Cellar, & a Blues venue. The mix of history, & food cultures proved excellent. We tried things that we would never have found or tasted. We all would highly recommend this tour to others. The weather was an added bonus - no umbrellas required!! Antonette Stone.

The tour was not only really interesting - to hear the history of the places areas we were seeing - but also of course to try the various different foods. The guide was enthusiastic about the area, which is quite understandable once you've visited it! The tastings were all of foods that most people otherwise wouldn't choose to try, which was quite nice. After taking the tour we returned to Greenwich village at least once a day during the remainder of our stay in New York - if we hadn't taken the tour, we probably would never have visited it at all. Take this tour at the beginning of your stay in NY rather than the end as we did, as you will want to go back to the area. This tour is a must for all visitors to New York.

Really enjoyed the guide's (Barrie) enthusiasm and knowledge of not only the restaurants and food stores around the area but also of the culture and what it was like in years past. Great tour and tastings!

We wish this kind of tours could be possible everywhere in Ny.Next time we´ll try another of your tours We had this phenomenal guide, Barry, who took well care of us all, who informed us so well on cultural and gastronomical issues while we walked. We could not miss anything. We´ll remember New York after this, be sure.

We were in a party of seven on our guide Barri’s (sorry if spelling’s wrong?) first solo tour of this district and we enjoyed every minute of it! The food samples were varied, tasty and often had a story behind them that made us realise how unique they were, whilst Barri’s enthusiasm for the area, its people and its history was truly infectious. As she pointed out before we parted, we came away knowing things about Greenwich and Soho that most New Yorker’s themselves probably don’t know, so it was indeed a privilege to have had the opportunity. If we’d had more than just six days in this great city we’d have certainly booked onto the other food and culture tours too! C&A, England, October 2006.

The tour was given by enthusastic members of the community. It was well organized and the food was ready when we arrived. The bottle of water came in handy. They went to great lengt to accomodate special requests. It was nice to hear that the food is actually paid for. The historical remarks were nice as well and delivered the background to the district.

Great guides, good information, too much standing

I loved the information that we were given about the area that we were in and the restaurants that we could return to to eat,d rink and derive entertainment from. The down part of the trip was a lot of standing around instead of walking or finding a spot where we could all sit and listen to the guides. The food was good and they accommodated individuals who were vegans and disliked spicey food. Very considerate. Some of the portions could have been larger or peraps have two small ortions of two different foods at the same location. I wold reccommend this tour to others in the New York area as something to do when they first arrived so that they had options for dinners and entertainment away from Broadway.
