The tour was not only really interesting - to hear the history of the places areas we were seeing - but also of course to try the various different foods. The guide was enthusiastic about the area, which is quite understandable once you've visited it! The tastings were all of foods that most people otherwise wouldn't choose to try, which was quite nice. After taking the tour we returned to Greenwich village at least once a day during the remainder of our stay in New York - if we hadn't taken the tour, we probably would never have visited it at all. Take this tour at the beginning of your stay in NY rather than the end as we did, as you will want to go back to the area. This tour is a must for all visitors to New York. |

food was tasty, not very much of it, guide seemed less than enthusiastic. patter was partly interesting, partly repetitive filler. no attempt at human connection to any of the 16 participants in the tour. |

Our group enjoyed the walking and food tasting tour very much. Our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We tasted very different ethnic foods we may have never tried. We stopped at small local eateries that were very good. We learned alot of tidbits and history about each neighborhood. |

Really enjoyed the guide's (Barrie) enthusiasm and knowledge of not only the restaurants and food stores around the area but also of the culture and what it was like in years past. Great tour and tastings! |

I would recommend this food tour. Not only does it give you sample tastes of some of the restaurants and food shops, but the guide gives information about many of the restaurants, entertainment venues, and history of the village. I would like to see more food tours of the Soho, Tribeca, and other neighborhoods of NYC! |

We thoroughly enjoyed the your. I had done other food tours but this one was my husband's first. We appreciated the information about the neighborhood and its architecture as well as the food. |

As with the other tours this one was excellant. Barri did a great job giving us a true taste of ethnic NYC. The weather was cold but we barely felt it with all the activity. Lots of places I would definitely go back to. If you are looking to make improvements though I would find just a few more places to 'sit'. 2 hours into the tour I found myself searching for a second wind. (Of course I found it at the next tasting :) ). |

My dad, my 16 year old son, and I took this tour. I've taken the other two food and culture tours offered by this company, and this one was my favorite. I thought the tour was excellent. The only downside was the cold weather. Standing in Washington Square Park with the blowing wind was more then my dad could take. He is from South Florida, and he had to go back to one of the restaruants that we visited and wait for us to pick him up after the tour was over. Barrie, our tour guide, did an excellent job and knew the area well. I've visited this part of the city several times, and I now feel like I have a much better understanding of the history, shops, and resturants that make up Central Greenwich Village and SOHO. The food was excellent, and I appreciated the variety. We did not go away hungry. Of the three tours offered by Food Tours of New York, this was my favorite. All three tours were staffed by experienced tour guides who know their stuff. When I booked the tour back in February, I thought it would be warmer the first week of April. Who would have guessed that the temperature would be in the 30s and windy. That was the only downside. Burr... it was cold. In hindsight, for dad’s sake, it might have been better to bag the tour and visit one of the fine New York museums instead. |
