activity photo

Sample tasty treats from ethnic, old-school eateries in two distinct areas - one colorful and exciting, the other surprisingly quaint.

Tasty & Educational

Even though it was a food tasting tour, I found the history of the area and the eateries to be very educational. I grew up in New York and was surprised to learn so much about this relatively small area of Manhattan. Our guide Diana made it very entertaining with her stories of the area. The restaurants were very diverse in cuisine and all were very enjoyable.

A Fresh Burst of Flavor, Culture and Fun!

This tour was outstanding! We happened to have a very interactive group where everyone mingled nicely and had a lot of laughs. That aside, the tour was phenomenal. I am a life long New Yorker so when friends and family come to town to visit I look for things I will enjoy also. I mean, how many times can you go to the top of the Empire State Building. This tour provided a rich history of the Village and great new dining spots I was unfamiliar with. There are great shops along the way as well. The three hours flew by and a great time was had by all!!!!

We previously did the Chelsea Market tour and loved it. This was equally enjoyable. Good food, informative guide, and pleasant people. Great way to spend a day in NYC.

Hot July Summer with Raheem but it was worth it!

This was my first tour and it won't be my last one! Raheem was very informative and, at the same time, humorous, thoughtful, and polite. It was an extremely hot day so Raheem did his best to get us cold water and shade or indoor reprieve from the sun. He was a big reason why we will do this tour again in August with other family members. The food was delicious and the hospitality was genuine. This activity is a perfect way to hang out with your family or friends as long as everyone is mobile. It is primarily a walking tour with a celebration of history and food. There is no better way to understand what a neighborhood has to offer!

We thoroughly enjoyed the food tour. We were glad we were recommended the tour by friends in Aust. Our guide Susan was not only pleasant she was very informative not only about the food but the area we toured. We were treated with decent food and a informative historical prespetive of the of the area we visited. In short it combined the best of two things food and culture in 3 hours.

We are a New Jersey couple who are frequent visitors to the city and the "Village". This tour led us to new places we have walked past and missed on our own. We will be back to most of them.

DO THIS TOUR!

We had a great time! Our guide, Susan, was a neighborhood resident who was knowledgeable and passionate about where she lived. The food was both varied and delicious. It was nice to be in an urban area that also had a true small town vibe.

This tour was so-so at best. Some interesting food, not much on the local history or culture, very little walking and a guide whose enthusiasm for the neighborhood bordered on arrogance made this a blah event. (For our guide, you evidently would be amazed to learn there are ethnic restaurants, spice stores and coffee stores outside NYC!) Can't recommend this one. Just not enough there. The highlight was the mojito at the Cuban restaurant, the name of which escapes me (yep, the tour was that memorable). Spend your valuable time elsewhere.

History Culture and Food

My wife and I had just arrived in New York to start our US holiday when we attended the tour to get firsthand experience for real New York food. The tour was interesting giving us a good feel for the history, culture and foods of the Greenwich Village and Soho areas. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and moved at the right pace throughout the tour. We had a variety of food and the quantity and quality was good. We both enjoyed our experience and were pleased that we included this in our itinerary. Chris and Vivienne - Sydney Australia (June 2013)
