Sample tasty treats from ethnic, old-school eateries in two distinct areas - one colorful and exciting, the other surprisingly quaint.

Nice walk around New York, we saw a lot of interesting places, that said - being from Europe, I'm not that interested in seeing the most authentic Italian restaurant in New York - I would rather see the most authentic American restaurant ;-) |

This is a great tour that allows one to see a portion of New York while enjoying excellent food, cultural background, and historic facts about the city. There is not much time for photo ops as the tour moves somewhat quickly, but this allows participants to see as many landmarks and restaurants as possible in a matter of three hours. Did I mention that the food was excellent?? I would like to go on a tour of another area if given the chance. |

This was my third food tour with FoodsOfNY purchased through ZERVE. It was easy to setup the tour but not as easy to find the group meetup in New York City, since it actually was inside the restaurant instead of outside on the street - outside is better in my opinion. Everyone can see the group from a distance, for one thing. Secondly, we were dodging the wait staff inside. And finally, that restaurant was NOT on our tour, which I found pointless and distracting.
The tour however was very good and everyone in our extended family enjoyed it. We ate significantly more food on this tour than the previous two, which was very nice, considering it is billed as a food tour.
I will likely take future tours with FoodsOfNY. This remains an excellent way to spend 3+ hours walking around New York City, and everyone else in the group seems to have felt the same way, judging by the number of tips we gave our tour guide at the end. |

As part of a 4 day jam-packed itinerary, our few hours with Raffi touring Grenwich Village (and a bit of SoHo), was a lovely afternoon of taste, texture, sights, history, architecture, culture and meeting fellow foodies from far and near (our group included folks from Germany, Puerto Rico, Australia, Canada and exptic New Jersey). The opportunity to meet the people who make the food (Grazie, Chef Marco!) and learn their stories was priceless. Our guide led us through traffic with grace and charm, (making sure we didn't block the sidewalk!) and demonstrated his passion and appreciation for the importance of good, authentic food. He treated us like friends he was taking on a walk though his favorite neighbourhood, and by the end of our afternoon, we felt like we had a glimpse into the "real" Grenwich Village. My spouse has already talked about coming back to NYC and plans to eat at Cuba (the best emanadas with tomatillo salsa) and take at least one other food tour. I highly reccomend this tour and, especially, our guide Raffi. |

My second :foods of ny" tour, and every bit as delightful as the first.
Staying at a hotel uptown, i now know how important it is to visit
the local neighbourhoods in order to fully understand the history
of new york, and why the city so rightly celebrates its diversity in
food, music, the written word, and beautiful public spaces.
Our tour guide was so enthusiastic about the amazing people,
the brilliant food from the independent purveyors, and the famous
people who once lived in the area.
Listiening to his descriptions of life in Greenwich in the 50s and 60s,
I could envision the cultural energy that must have existed then.
Even today, the area hums with so much life, but without the guided
tour you would not be aware of what preceded. My daughter and I
thoroughly enjoyed the tour. As someone who loves literature, I could
fully understand why Henry James, Edgar Allen Poe, Bob Dylan, ee
Cummings, and so many others gravitated to this area that is so saturated
with life, and ideas.
Thankyou, thankyou Rahim, for an absolutely amazing experience..from
a culinary and a historic perspective. We will be back. |

My son and I had the privilege of taking the Central Village/Soho Food and Culture Tour. This is the second food tour we've taken in NYC and plan to do them all. Susan, our tour guide, was wonderful. She was so knowledgeable about the different locations where we had tastings and as well as the history of the noteable places in the area. The tastings were all delicious from the focaccia with fresh mozarella, tomato, roasted red peppers and basil down to the chocolate pear tart. I highly recommend these tours to anyone visiting or living in New York City. |

Wonderful tour, have already recommended to several of our friends. Even though it rained for part of the tour, it was fun from beginning to end and Diana our tour guide was entertaining and interesting. We're definitely planning another tour on our next trip to New York. |

Can't think of a better way to get an insight into the city in three hours. Our guide presented a weath of information with humour and enthusiasm. The food was great, of course. What we didn't expect was the context it came with: the history, the architecture, the musical and cultural background. Our favourite bit of New York, and the highlight of our week. |

Nice variety of food tastings. Great history of the neighborhood. Our guide, Rahim sp? made the tour! So knowledgeable and personable. We were so sad to say goodbye when it was over. Second food tour and we will definitely do another next time we're in NYC. |
