terrific introduction to the area

This tour is highly recommended. It gives a wonderful insight to the area in a way that you just cannot get any other way. Not only are you taken to see some first class eateries, with very delicious samples to eat, but you hear about the stories behind the scenes. We stayed in the area for 2 weeks, and would never have appreciated or understood the place if we had not done this tour. Our tour guide, Barri, was wonderful and knowledgeable and the pace just right.

We did the Heart of the Village tour, which took us to several destinations in Greenwhich (including 7 restaurants and Washington Square Park). Rahim was our tour guide. He was enthusiastic, funny and interesting. All of the food was amazing and I will keep them all in mind for the next time I visit NYC. Who knew traditional Italian pasta used so little sauce?! It was the best pasta I have ever tasted! We also tried tacos, pizza, a mortadella sandwich (which I wasn't looking forward to given the reference to bologna, but ended up being amazing), an indian take on a breakfast burrito and an iced tea and a macaron for dessert. Was definitely enough food and thankfully it was spread over 3 hours to avoid becoming over-full. I am pregnant and my stomach tends to fill easily so I had to share some with my fiance. Howevever, he was extremely stuffed by the end and typically has a large appetite. This tour is definitely worth every penny.

Booked this tour with food in mind. Actually enjoyed the guide and his knowledge of the area more than the food. That is not to say the food was not good, it was good.

Our tour guide, Susan was very enthusiatic and passionate, she had a wealth of knowledge of the district and its history. The food tasting section of the tour was very diverse, we sampled a wide range of cuisines. Highly recommended!

In addition to the wonderful variety of food offered on this tour (make sure you don't eat for at least 2 weeks beforehand as you certainly don't go away hungry) the walk around the village provides a living history lesson into some of the past inhabitants, the architecture and how the area has developed over the years to become the eclectic enclave it is today. This was all brought to life for us by our guide Susan who's intimate knowledge of the neighbourhood was only exceeded by her enthusiasm for sharing it with our group.

A lot to eat!

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour - the guide was excellent and we especially enjoyed the stop at the Indian restaurant, Masala Times, which was fantastic. All the food was good, but I felt that there were perhaps too many carbs and heavy options (sandwich, pasta, pizza and empanadas / plantains). The portions were bigger than expected which is great if you like to eat a lot but I personally would have preferred smaller portions and some lighter options (Thai, Vietnamese perhaps?) . Our least favourite was the Cuban restuarant, the food was plentiful but heavy and not the most interesting which is a shame as there is so much interesting Cuban food out there. The cultural part of the tour was excellent. Greenwich Village is a very interesting part of the city and our guide did a great job bringing that to life. The visit to Washington Square Park, albeit brief, was also wonderful. Overall, we enjoyed the tour very much and would recommend it.

Guide was entertaining with fact, folklore and food information imparted in a way that made the whole thing fun and informative. More than enough food for us and a great way to learn about the area. Highly recommended and would do this type of tour early into any trip. Good info for the rest of the stay.

One of the real highlights of our 3 day trip to NY

Our guide Raheem was bursting with enthusiasm and reliable knowledge of the area. As a Dylan fan in Greenwich Village there was some useful info, tho I gather that there are other tours more focused on the Speakeasys/folk venues. The food range and quality were superb (particularly the Indian one) and there was more than enough to eat.
