This was a fun tour. Most of the places shown were special in a way or the other. The guide was good and very enthusiastic. And we had more food than we could eat.
I especially loved the holes-in-the-wall he showed us, as, e.g., the smoked Mozzarella place. Only the one Italian place with the "super original Bolognese" were more like a lot of other Italian restaurants I've seen.
Worth it. |

The tour around Greenwich and SOHO was fantastic just the right amount to give the flavour and some history and trivia of the local area. The only disappoint was we should have done the tour at the start of our NY trip not the back, then we would have all these great places to eat!! |

The tour of Central Village was a lot of meaningless trivia and very little on actual food knowledge. On several occaisions, the group stayed on the sidewalk across from the establishment and never even saw the inside of the place. We heard about the leader's family's favorites and continual rants about NYU but talked to only a few of the business owners. |

I had a great time with our guide Raheem on the 'Central Village/SoHo Food Culture' tour. He made the experience so awesome! He's funny and extremely knowledgeable of the area. Trust me, it's truly a meal and nobody leaves hungry. Some of the highlights were:
The 'Focacceria' mini sandwiches were warm right out of the oven served on focaccia bread w/fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers. Next, 'Masala Times' Indian Unda Bhurji Roll, scrambled egg and veggies on Indian layered bread was out of this world and served with a Mango Lassi drink. Then, a short walk to 'Montes' Italian restaurant. We had table service (very nice place w/great photos and history on the walls) What a nice penne pasta with bolognese meat marinara sauce. It just gets better when we went to the Cuban/Latin restaurant 'Cuba'. Again with table service, a delicious Boiled Yuca w/Mojo garlic sauce was served followed by two different Empanadas, one w/Chicken and the other w/beef. A really rich salsa verde (not spicy) was served on the side. The Mojitos were optional, but were definitely a hit!!
I can say no more because I don't want to spoil the other surprises, including 3 more food stops! It was a very good walking tour packed with great NYC insight between portions. There were some neat little stops at a great coffee bean store and another at a fresh pasta store. Raheem took us on a real '3 hour tour' with so much info, extra potions, and a very good selection and order of the different portions.
Great job Raheem!!

My partner and I traveled to nyc to take in the sights and flavors of the city. We were thrilled with what the foods of nyc provided. Not only was every venue a treat but we learned a wealth of knowledge about the neighborhoods and their history. We could not be happier. We spent several days and evenings and returned to many for a great meal. Thanks to our tour guide for such a delightful time. We would recommend this tour to anyone.
Thanks

I have been traveling often to New York over the past 30 years. OK you started these tours in 1999... I missed this for 11 years! Duh me!
Our guide (Diana?) was amazing, she answered all the questions, she is funny and like us... she likes food!
One of the best ways to know more about New York City and I am not only talking about the food!
And talking about the food, that was a yummy tour!
Two thumbs up and merci beaucoup!

Our tour guide was Rahim, who was extremely polished and knowledgeable about both the food / culture in the area, as well as the history behind how the neighborhood became what is today. A great experience, and we will definitely be doing another tour. |
